First details for second Final Fantasy XIV expansion already decided

I'm pretty sure Yoshi announced sometime last year that they were intending to move to a expansion cycle of approximately 1 year. I don't remember the exact quote, but I think it was at Tokyo Game Show last August.

They better either add more content to the current patch cycle, or shorten the current patch cycle by a month and keep the same amount of patch content. 2.5 was a massive cut scene patch because the time they had to 3.0 didn't allow them to finish off 2.0's story in normal patches and honestly there wasn't much else to 2.5 outside of WoD and the normal 3 dungeons, and end to Hildibrand. The Odin trial was a let down, I actually found Steps of Faith pre-nerf to be a lot harder and even then that was pretty easy. I was actually hoping for a EX version of "The Chrysalis" or of Steps of Faith but that never happened.

Also WoW went to this shortened Expac and from what I heard besides the 2 deepend WoW fanboys I have for friends was that WoD was a pretty weak expac with barely any patch stuff. I don't want to see FF14 be this way too.

I advice you to be very cautious with Legion tbh.
Look at when WoD announced and how much content got removed completely.

Did my post come off as me being hyped for legion?
I am not excited for it at all. It came off as a really boring and uninspired direction for the game to head in after a really boring and lacking Xpac.

I'm just saying, the trend for MMO Xpac development seems to be a pretty fast and loose dev cycle.

I never bought WoD. Got tired of the continued stupid focus on orcs and humans and the expense of every other bit of the universe and quit after SoO.

I'm relieved I didn't.

The only good things to come from the expansion were the inclusion of Gladiator Stance for prot warriors (allowing them to DPS while using sword & shield) and fixing Ret Paladins so they feel like paladins again instead of holy rogues.

Everything else was either a wash or a downgrade. This said, Legion seems to be borrowing FFXIV's concept of relic weapons (they're adding 36 unique upgradeable weapons, one for each spec). I'd tell the devs to give it a try just to see how survival hunters as a melee spec with a pet works, then stealget inspiration from it to make BST work here.

Oh yes please bring back REAL boat rides like from XI (sorry - rose tinted specs) I loved when someone would be fishing and then whoops caught a monster better help him out.

I hope they take their time and keep making expansions good, that is all I care about. We need the time anyway to level all the jobs and crafting/gathering jobs as well. I think 1.5 years is a good cycle to have. Sooner would be great as long as the content would not "slip" in quality somehow and if they try and rush I am very afraid that this could happen.
I want to go somewhere we have "barely" heard of in the game so far and for it to be a really nice surprise. So many people already knew of Ishgard and surrounding areas that is was not really a surprise so much to them.

Most likely because they had to go straight into the dev cycle for the next expac and if 14 starts to go this way I'm gonna have to say I'll be jumping ship.

If 4.0 isn't about Ala Mhigo, I'll be surprised. Concept art of the area exists, and if I recall correctly, I believe Yoshi said it might be the focus of a future expansion. Could also be fitting as once its liberated, it can become the fifth city state that players can visit.

We'll just have to see where the rest of Heavensward takes us first.

Technically, most content have a dps check... In dungeons, you only have 90 minutes... <.<
If you have really slow dps... you know... <.<
