Thanks for this thread!
What do I like most in this game?
It's so familiar to an old WoW player like me (absolutely NO learning curve), but not a real clone, and better in many ways.
The rich story.
The art, both world and models.
Fast, significant content updates
I think the biggest reason i play FFXIV is I'm a huge fan of FF, always have been. This to me is my first real Final Fantasy HD experience. FF13 really didn't do it for me.
What I love the most is all my favorite FF things are in the game and the devs have done a wonderful job of maintaining the spirit and charm of Final Fantasy. So Kudos for that. Urth's Font trial where Odin uses his signature Zantetsuken instant wipe move at the end was brilliant. The goblins from FFXI are really great as well. Bahamut Prime was probably one of the coolest things I've seen in a FF game in a long time. I'm also excited to see what they do with Omega, Alexander, and Tiamat.
The lurvs... <3
I was originally interested just for the sake of it being a Final Fantasy title.
But I came BACK because, even with all its faults-the jerks in the community, the random bugs that make you scratch your head, the PS3/4 will explode the game "scapegoat".. I could go on-, FFXIV is currently the best MMO on the market IMO. I floated around a ton of games in the past year and kept saying, "God, I wish they'd implement what FFXIV did." So I came back and decided to accept this game and its community for what it is, good and bad, all of it.![]()
What made me pick FF14?
Everything about it. But mostly:
Pretty women
Lalafells
Pretty women
Lalafells
Final Fantasy's track record
Roegadyns
Remale Roegadyns (because "female" is too mild a descriptor for them)
Mother Miounne
Lalafells
And pretty women
This thread.
Something for devs to cheer for.![]()

What made me pick up the game...
During a Black Friday sale I thought "hey, the Collector is pretty cheap", so me and my GF got a copy each.
Altho it took me a few days before I even started playing, but I got hooked pretty soon.
- The storydriven gameplay with all the cutscenes was a joy for me.
- The Trials are challenging the first time you played them.
- Gameworld is great looking and I tend to just roam around enjoying the scenary.
- Character Design and all the emotes looks great.
- Music is great.
- The Community is (mostly) friendly.
These are some of the things that pops up into my head.

Always been a FF fan, my first one being FFVII and have played every one since, even going back and playing all the older ones as well,
Wanted to play FFXI and FFXIV 1.0, but unfortunately could not play them on my PS2/PS3 in uk as there was no way for me to do so
So when FFXIV 2.0 was announced for PS3 I was one of the first in the queue for the Beta![]()

I honestly only applied for the beta because Male Miqo'te.
Overall the game's more than enough fun. Right now I'm wishing there was some more depth to the combat like CC being a factor, but what I'm really loving is that even though I'm getting burnt out, I can stay relevant by logging on and at least getting my EX roulette done.
Maps are also a ton of fun, and I'm really hoping that we can get some sort of instanced hunting in a party of four that requires a bit more teamwork than dungeons.
It also really helps that the world is one I actually enjoy wandering around in. I jus need 3.1 to hurry up and get here so I can fly on Kirin.

My BF and I came from WoW but I have been a big FF Fan since NES but didn't want to play XIV alone.
We saw the trailer and some reviews and we decided to try it.. Now I wished I started playing this game way sooner. Of course, major bonus for being a P2P game.
