I've been a lifelong fan of FF. I remember getting a SNES when I was 13 just because I saw FFIII (FFVI) in an EGM magazine! After reading about the game, and seeing the characters and battle system, I could not wait to play the game. Probably a week after seeing that review in the Electronic Gaming Monthly, or it could have possible been a Die Hard Game Fan, magazine, anyway, about a week after having read about the game I had my grandpa take me to buy a SNES and FFIII. Once I started playing the game I was hooked! After the awesome experience I had with that game, I was forever a FF fan. I've played all the major FF titles, but I spent the most time playing FFXI. FFXI was my first MMORPG, and I played the game for approximately 3 and a half years. When I heard about FFXIV I couldn't wait to get started. Played around with the beta for 1.0 but ultimately didn't get to really to start playing FFXIV until around September, or October, of 2010. From then on I played FFXIV as often as possible, and played up until the end of 1.23. Anxiously waited for 2.0, got in during beta and have been playing ever since. I do enjoy how the game does allow for solo play, but it would be nice if there was more group content that wasn't instanced such as open world content, even if SE started out with having old fashioned mob grind xp parties as a great way to gain xp and expanded out from there with other, exciting, open world content. I feel this would build more community among servers as more people would group together for considerable lengths of time in which friendships could be made, and fun times could be had.
On a side note, I wish the game offered more longevity for equipment, even if that meant that horizontal gear progression was added. I'm positive I'm not the only person who would like for the gear we work hard to obtain to not be obsolete once every 3-6 months. Especially considering that there are now 13 DoW/DoM jobs, and it takes a considerable amount of time to gear up all of the jobs that we might be interested in playing.

(And it would be nice to learn about JP's game community)
