Emotes in the cash shop..

It's really not that big of a deal. Like most of the stuff everything in the cash shop, it's a stupid little inconsequential extra that could not possibly have less of an effect on the overall game than it does already. If you want it that bad, then just suck it up and pay for it. If it really bothers you, then don't.

Personally, I'm fine with it and I'll probably end up buying it. Is it ideal? No. However, it's not some unforgivable grievance that you people are making it tout to be.

Oh, just to put it in perspective:

To my knowledge, there's still no way to get the /throw emote from Christmas 2013. . . no one's complained.
Lightning Returns hairstyles and costumes are still not available. The weapons are STILL not available even from the Calamity Salvager. . . no one's complained.
You DO have to pay for wedding clothing and /embrace. . . no one's complained.
/fistbump, Twintania, and the Draught Chocobos all require networking in real life to obtain. . . Pretty sure no one complained all that much about that either.

Stop pretending that cosmetics don't matter. They clearly matter to a lot of people. Why else would costuming systems be so popular? Why else do we have threads devoted to people's glamours? Why else would people get upset when SE decides to double-dip with content that had previously been available in the game itself?

Cosmetics matter. Access to cosmetics can directly affect one's enjoyment of the game.

What a great welcome to new and returning players, if it was stuff that could be earned through a previous seasonal event.. why not allow it to be earned again, instead of straight up ripping off paying customers. This is unacceptable.

My guess would be because they have new items in store for this year's event. If they gave you the old items in addition to the new items, players that were here last year would complain about useless rewards and having to delete them. If they gave you a choice between the new items and the old items, those that don't have the old items would complain that they can't have both. This way they can make a new item for everyone, and those that decide they want the old item and emote can obtain it for less than the cost of a movie ticket.

I don't see how putting old event items into the cash shop is ripping off paying customers at all. You mayaswell say that since 95% of the playerbase is never going to clear A4S, that's ripping off paying customers too. You get what you pay for - access to the game's servers. Nowhere in the ToU does it say that you're entitled to access every single piece of content in the game. All of these items are optional content. Having a Blackflame Yukata has no bearing on your character's stats or abilities. It just makes you look a certain way.

Man, people are so salty over some dumb outfits. I guess you can't make everyone happy all the time.

I do not approve of the business practice. And I'm free to make that decision with my money.

I felt the same way about the relic. And if this one goes in the same direction, I'll simply wash my hands of it and enjoy everything else the game has to offer.

Now if the relic ever became a cash shop item or something that I absolutely HAD to have in order to progress in the game? THEN we'd have a problem.

Hell, I like the Y'shtola minion, but I haven't bought it. Because I don't need it or want it that bad.

People complained about Lightning Returns and that's why they did the event a second time.

Paying for wedding specific stuff is a unique and themed thing, it was never in-game previously obtainable via in-game means. Like it's an actual event that takes place in-game and makes sense to be worth money.

And the complaining you are seeing now are people fed up with it being abused in a pay to play MMO like this, especially so when FFXI let us have it free each year and they still came out with new items each year or every other year.

They need to give players the option when these yearly seasonal events occur the option to obtain the item again. Cash shop only in a pay to play game for something that was in-game previously is really not cool.

Don't remember 2013 X-mas, no comment. But isn't that emote from a Snowman? No event is needed.
IIRC: People have made multliple topic's for Lightning Event to return.
You do not have to pay a dime for the wedding attire or the emote. There are 3 version's and one is freemium.

I didn't pay a dime for Twintania, and those that used my codes payed for a game they obviously wanted to play, and had to pay 2 play for anyways.
So in that regard Twintania is more of less "free".
