Really really sad that maintenence is 2 hours before normal time

I wanna tell the OP "get over it, it happens" but people who go "FIRSTWORLDPROBLEMS" are just as annoying. Yeah, I LIVE in a first world country and I feel like discussing and/or complaining about my recreational activities and the availability thereof. Yeah there are places/people in the world a LOT worse off than us. I don't frigging care. Same is true for most people that come to discuss a video game.

But using words like "really really sad" and "super bummed" for not getting a virtual shiny, when there so many other real problems in the world that we should be "really really sad" about, was a little over the top to me.

In order to implement Patch 3.05 hotfixes as well as work on infrastructure, we will be performing maintenance on all Worlds at the time below. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XIV will be unavailable.

what is infrastructure? like they are gonna change the servers hardwares?.........or add 1 house in the game?

I think it's just the level of dramatics the OP used; not the fact we can't be bummed about both. Being lazy and unable to cap Esoterics at the very last minute is more of a "Whoops!" situation; not really a "I'm debating whether life is worth living now" moment.

Am I one of the few people aware that "first world problems" isn't an actual argument? Its' the "fallacy of relative privation" or an "appeal to worse problems".
It doesn't address the issue at hand, and at worse it tries to strawman the original argument into saying that an individual cares much more about something relatively trivial, and cares little for things of drastic consequence. It's mildly useful to help put things in perspective, but it's by no means a counterpoint.

And to the OP. Meh, sucks. Take some solace in knowing that it eventually won't matter at all once the gear becomes obsolete, there isn't anything in the game beyond Savage content that even necessitates the gear, and you'll still be able to get it eventually anyway. Being a week behind the curve isn't the worst thing that could happen.

I don't recall him saying anything about wanting to off himself or anything. He just said he's really bummed. o_O Also, maybe he works 80 hours a week and he just didn't have the time to cap esoterics, and the early maintenance cut into that last bit of time he had to play. You're making some pretty dramatic assumptions about him based on a forum post that doesn't reveal enough information for you to know that he's just lazy and waits until the last minute to cap tomes. I really don't understand why people are so hostile here about everything.

I know that the maintenances are necessary and I want them to it but instead of starting maintenance early they could run it two hours later for a change. I love the new 11pm PST time...I still wish it was later though...2am would be perfect.
Capping is so easy though...can be done in one day really easily. I never thought I would say it but PvP for me has a purpose now...kind of fun and quickly capping Eso's. NICE!!!

PvP... Quickly capping Eso's... From what I've heard (and experienced) PvP queues take forever, and that it would just be faster to farm dungeons.

To be frank, it isn't SE's fault you didn't read the maintenance warning more carefully. I mean, you are forced to read it (or at least have it put in front of you) every time you log in.
