Actually, time is relative. What you consider "stupid amount of time" might not actually BE stupid and vice versa. Its just that you label it as such. This is all your opinion and I've given you facts such as WHY SE would put a cap on such things and how easy it is for an end-game gatherer/crafter.
Learn how to optimize your time and effort. Otherwise, it'll take longer. Don't blame the systems because you chose to invest the free time you have somewhere else (Raiding)
Functionally speaking, what is accomplished by making the weekly red scrip grind take 8-10 hours rather than 3-4? A grind has its place, as does a cap. Grinding is meant to gate progress by effort, whereas caps are used to gate progress by time. Each of them should be used as necessary, but they should never be used together.
You make good points. Although, the actual effort of gathering the material takes at most 2 minutes. Its mainly the waiting which can be seen as eating up time, inflating the 8-10 hours and if you remove the waiting time, it is actually around 3-4 hours or maybe less. I'm giving broad generalizations of course.
To give people something to do, you know a reason to play the game. If I'm paying a sub and I'm only getting one hour of playtime out of it because red scrips can be capped in 4 hours and tomestones can be capped in 4 hours. Then it gets to the point of, why even log in for an hour when I'm just going to log right back off and go watch TV anyways. People play the game obviously because they want to play the game.
My question is this... If you only want to gather for 4 hours a week, what is stopping you from just getting as many red scrips as you can in 4 hours then stop playing? Why do the developers need to balance the game specifically for YOU, and only you? Entitled much?
This game may have a lot of issues, but lack of variety is not one of them. If the red scrip grind is literally the only reason you have for ever logging into the game I think you should seriously consider unsubbing and taking a look at what else is on the market.
This isn't Einsteinian Physics. Gatherers need to allocate a lot more time reaching end game content then raiders do. It's pretty simple.
I don't disagree with you on that. I just got to red gatherer script cap after allocating most of the day it for. The majority of that time is just waiting around. Honestly its probably less than 3-4 hours of actual effort. Hell, probably less then an hour of real effort (ie thinking about my rotation, what I need to gather, what attributes I need). I don't understand how anyone can defend it.
Hmmm let's see.. what else is on the market? Oh yea world of warcraft, where you don't even have to gather stuff. It just magically appears in your garrison every day. I think that game would be perfect for those that think FFXIV is too grindy.
I'm not the one constantly asking the developers to re-code their game, as if they work for me or something.
Well, the caps are there so people who can spend a billion hours (hyperbole) playing don't have a massive advantage over the people who only have 20+ hours to play.My question is this... Being one of those people who can only play 20+ hours (which is a lot compared to most actual people) I don't mind the caps.
Now about getting to those caps...
I don't know know what else to really say. The only reason I even picked up crafting is the combat side is capped out so hard. esoterics and gordian parts are so easy to get, you only get about 8 hours of gameplay out of it. If they going to cap the crafting and gathering that hard too, you will see a lot of people leaving the game. Especially the ones that are only interested in gathering and crafting.Well, the caps are there so people who can spend a billion hours (hyperbole) playing don't have a massive advantage over the people who only have 20+ hours to play.
