Instead, the majority seem to have fallen to thinking that if they miss or don't cap for the week that they'll somehow fall behind our have to work harder. When regardless of how much any of us accomplish in any game it will never pay off since once a game shuts down, all those "accomplishments" disappear with it...
Oh well, back to the grind for you guys I guess. Hope you get some enjoyment out of your virtual job
Not to be rude or anything but you just started this game.
A lot rest of us have stopped and smelled the roses for 2 years. We can have friends up the behind and the game still
can get boring. It doesn't change the fact that you're still spamming the same crap for days on end and having a repeat of 2.0.
Also, while I love friends. I'm pretty sure not everyone is paying monthly to be social bee's and chill in their invisible FC house.
    So....

Cool then I don't see any problem with people getting burned out unless they go hard and put themselves in that position.

This game is pretty much like working out, you have different in-game activities that is gonna reward you, kinda like the different types of lifts or routines you can do. Now if you decide to grind hard for them FATEs or currency its like trying to run 5 hours straight with out any break. You are gonna end burned out or the in the case of running so damn tired you could hurt yourself.

So if you're burned out, you did it to yourself. Moderation is the key with bouts of going hard to beat that plateau.

The game is becoming too much like WoW - and just as boring.

Endlessly we grind for gear that are nothing but flat stat increases via dungeons or raids, rinse and repeat ... the whole expansion.

Nothing changes. Just numbers get bigger.

Why is it like this? Raid balance. Can't keep adding new abilities and changing stuff up while keeping raid balance as tightly tuned as it needs to be to avoid raider QQ.

The only time we get new stuff is when a new expansion comes out. Then there is the rush to "get good" least you get flamed and lectured, as if you don't get enough of that in real life.

Personally I don't see the point in stressing myself out to "get good" - I have enough problems in real life.

Not much choice really. You either "get good" with the new abilities or you re-roll and hope you can "get good" with the new Job. There isn't, "I don't like this new ability. Let's see if there are other abilities to achieve the same result.".

Why? Raid balance. Having so many variations would be a nightmare to test for as you need to exhaustively test every combination else raiders will QQ if any one combo is out of line.

So you are fine running the same two dungeons for expert over and over? There is not that many options to get esoteric when it comes to dungeons. At least before, you can do expert and high level roulette, when it was still on 2.0, both roulette gives the "capped 450 tomes of the moment".

Right now, with 3.0, almost 80% of the 2.0 content is rendered useless apart from your daily trial roulette, and to a degree, high level roulette if you are still farming law tomes. All I was suggesting is to spread out the esoteric rewards to all endgame content in 2.0, and bring some xp to 2.0 high level dungeons so people are not resorting to N.Thanalan bot-a-thon-fate-bang-a-gong train to get to level 51....

It's a rather dumb moves on their end, invalidating the majority of 2.0 content, and forcing people to "start fresh" to make 3.0 more appealing, IT IS NOT! By giving more variety and not rendering two years worth of 2.0 contents useless would a better idea. Granted you can focus on 3.0 only, grinding two dungeons, but if we have options, I can do other "old" content once in awhile too, to make 3.0 less of an obvious grind, and how LITE the current content is. That is putting it nicely.

It has been a month, I would understand if they want players to focus on 3.0, cuz it's new. Now they should do hot fixes that slowly bring older content up to par, to give players more ways to earn Esoteric and what not. I mean, 3.0 is good, the foundation is solid. But please, they should have learned from the last two years on what people want by now.

My biggest problem right now, is that the Expert Roulette basically comes down to "Fun", or Neverreap. Nobody actually likes Neverreap.

If Yoshi P and his dev claim they listen to the players I still wonder wich players they actually listen to? The business aspect of making SE rich that went flawless and FFXIV is an extreme cash cow for SE. Many here have commented this expansion is a repeat of 2.0. We all thought ARR was just desperate measures so Yoshi P and his Dev could go back to the drawing board and come back with something unique and awesome. We got FFXIV 3.0 A 2.0 repeat of almost everything. I forgot the name of the person in this thread who said that FFXI was enjoyable and whatever you did it felt more of a progress and fun. I support FFXI alot its not perfect but the good stuff about FFXI is something Yoshi P could have learned from. the longer a person plays this the faster they get what im saying.
Similiar topics to this are on the japanese forums aswell so if SE wont listen to the american players maybe we can have the japanese players help us out aswell?

    It depends.

As a DPS, I love farming. It gives me stuff to do since I already have long queue times anyway. As a TANK, I take occasional breaks since things pop quick for me.

I love spamming dungeons, though, even if I gain nothing from them (I run in the low level dungeons solo often).

All I can see is they truly need to go back to the drawing board fast imo and present a large update.
