Why is it that people don't do things just for fun anymore? Why does everything have to be a carrot on a stick?
Though I do agree with you about the reskins. They're BS....>.>

But that's just it. If you take a break for 6 months, when you come back you will find the same thing with different backgrounds. /shrug
Maybe you're missing the social aspect of the game, do you have many friends in game to do things with? I find it difficult to find like minded people to play with sometimes, especially if/when friends quit, so that's why I'm suggesting that. I find the game is a lot more fun with friends, regardless of the repetitive aspects.
Personally I get what you're saying about crafting but I still love it and have made a lot of gil with it since 3.0 dropped. I'm probably one of the weird ones though because I actually enjoy the process of leveling crafting jobs and gearing them up. Once they're all 60 though I'll lose interest pretty fast most likely with the weekly caps and amount of time it takes to obtain the good gear vs the rewards of what you can make with it.
Yes I have RL friends and FC friends in game and I will come on to help them and our static for raids, but the issue I was pointing out was with the other half of the game.Maybe you're missing the social aspect of the game, do you have many friends in game to do things with? Its completely void of anything motivational to do it now.
Crafting,
Housing,
Gold Saucer,
PvP,
What is the point?
Thats my question.

How are you surprised that they made old PvP gear easier to wear/obtain? They've been doing this with almost every other piece of gear in the game. The point of earning the gear is to show that, during the time where it's hard to obtain, that you've obtained it. It's special in the moment, but once it becomes old then who cares anymore?
O I agree with you on the house stuff and from one WHM to another I agree with you on our gear. But I don't agree on the Saucer. The Saucer is just pure fun even if you don't get MGP. The reward should be secondary. If you need a reward to do something that's supposed to be fun then don't do it. Everything shouldn't be a carrot on a stick.
There is more to it than that, People actually spent alot of time in queue, put up with endless BLM LB and stayed loyal to a system that was already broken. How are you surprised that they made old PvP gear easier to wear/obtain? That is what PvP gear is and square give all those people the giant middle finger.
If square started handing out final relics from 2.0 do you think people would be happy about it?
There really isn't much point to anything, if this is the only game you play then I can definitely understand the frustration. I've been curbing it myself by playing Witcher 3 and FFXI (just started it up again) during my downtime. The only things I really log on for are crafting, because I actually find it fun, capping tomes so I can get better gear for my static that does savage, and the static itself. After running Alex nm a million times trying to get specific gear I'm getting sick of that and will probably give up on it soon.
Personally I was never interested in housing or pvp in this game, I found they did a really terrible job executing pvp and locking people to specific factions without some kind of mercenary system that would allow people to pvp with their friends. I have no interest in pvping with random pugs and waiting 30+ minutes in a queue every time. Housing has disappointed me ever since they put personal and FC housing in the same areas, Yoshi said personal would be cheaper and in a separate area but it's expensive and there are a lack of plots because of how they ended up actually doing it.
As for the gold saucer, I barely ever go there now, there just aren't any rewards with MGP that interest me personally aside from a mount I'll never use because I won't be able to summon my chocobo companion.
I agree with a lot of what you have said except the complaint about PVP gear. Like the poster above, EVERY bit of gear in this game starts as some long, drawn out grind only to be super easily accessible later on. Look back at when people were grinding their 300 Myth per week to buy a Myth piece (i90) for ONE job. Now, it drops like water in (what is now considered) leveling dungeons. Why? Because it's no longer the top tier gear. That is normal, and will probably always be the case in games like this.
