I dont see this game going F2P anytime soon. They are doing just fine with the sub model and are making a ton of money on this game (more than FFXI ever made them).

I meant EVER, I know they are doing fine now, but if they decided to go that route I'd lose all interest in FF14, I have learned my lesson with games that went F2P/Hybrid, never making that mistake again.

You are aware FFXI is one of SE's most profitable titles ever right?

You're so wrong, you're approaching right from the opposite side. FFXI has been stated as the most profitable FF game they've EVER made. ARR hasn't even come close to reproducing that revenue yet. The simple fact is that FFXI has had over 10 years of subscriptions, expansions and other purchases behind it, and despite ARR having a nice number of subscribers they lost a LOT of money on the 1.0 screw-up and the subsequent redevelopment of the game.

So, no... ARR hasn't made them more than XI. It's a great game, and we all enjoy it, but it's far from being the most profitable one. Hopefully in 10 years time, I'll be able to sing a different tune.
