Is there any benefit to HQ versions of the Ooids?

No currently not only is there no benefit, they are useless as HQ.
You actually have to lower quality, before you can use them to buy crafting mats.
Thank you.
I was afraid of that. They should let you get double mats or something like they do exp and seals when you turn in HQ.
Maybe they should've made turning in 10 HQ of each give HQ mats and then have the rares give you a higher amount of mats per Rowena token rather than HQ mats. For example:
10 NQ Ooids/10 NQ Botany + 1 Row Token = 5 NQ Mat (current)
10 HQ Ooids/10 HQ Botany + 1 Row Token = 5 HQ Mat (what roundstones do)
3 NQ Roundstone/3 NQ Botany + 2 Row Token = 15 NQ Mat;
3 HQ Roundstone/3 HQ Botany + 2 Row Token = 15 HQ Mat;
These are just rough numbers but I think this would be a better approach to the rare mats as the general consensus among crafters on this topic is quantity over quality. I think the designers greatly over estimated how much people were willing to spend to get HQ mats with that 150 red scrip price tag.

Or just not gated crafting behind such a massive gathering time sink. 3 hours in and I still don't have the materials to craft the ONE craft I am aiming for this week, BSM offhand. Dragon's warts simply will not drop for me, and the other ones will not reach a stack of 20 before my stack of favors runs out.
I think there am was to get people mining mats for a few hours that they wouldn't normally mine. It wasn't as much an issue in ARR because many of the materials were readily available through beast tribes and easily farmable. Many of the mats in HW are hidden node mats and you require as many, if not more, than you did in ARR. I could see that something like the Dravanian Hinterlands Mining Favors are great for the hardsilver ore market and the Churning Mists are great for Cloud Mica and Hardsilver Sands, however CWH only has Citrine and it's pretty worthless.
Maybe I missed this flood of posts, but I've yet to see anyone complain about Ephemeral nodes which are up for about the same duration, spawn at specific times and gate the exact same recipes as you require them for Land/Sea/Leaf borne aethersands. It's the same mechanic, except I actually like the Favor nodes more because you actually have to do more than just interact with the node like you do with ephemerals.
The thing with ephemeral nodes, is that they are always up somewhere in the world. They spawn every 4 hours and there is almost always either Leaf- or Landborne available. The exceptions are 12-4 AM (Leaf only), and 12-4 PM (Land only). And, since these nodes don't require any special equipment to get a chance of getting Leaf- or Landborne Aethersand (you only need 7/8 purity, for the record), there really isn't an issue. I actually have more Leafborne Aethersand than I sell or use. :<
Still takes a while to get HQ tho. Because of RNG. To begin with RNG is required to hit enough for a land/leaf, and then more to actually it, with some last RNG on whether or not you will get it as HQ.The thing with ephemeral nodes, is that they are always up somewhere in the world. As someone already said RNG is required to get 7/8 (there is no guaranteed rotation to get this) and even then you could still get Dusk, Dawn, or Clusters. The other thing is that ephemerals also require the use of GP skills while the Favor node require you to just gather.The thing with ephemeral nodes, is that they are always up somewhere in the world. I'm not saying either of these are engaging mechanics, but between the two I prefer Favor because I get to gather them on my own schedule rather than the game's schedule. My only irritation with this is the Roundstones are completely useless.
