the MSQ punishes new players (like me) into doing filler content that while is story based most of us skip 9i do this all the time) i used to care about the storyline but i want to level and get to play with my friends in Ishgard, i bought the expansion to be able to immediately jump into the content when i reached 50 but i cant do that, and my enjoyment of the storyline is suffering now, i honestly dont care about it anymore im not invested in it anymore all it is is just a slideshow of escape buttons now. its an impediment and nothing else.

If it was a quick notes or even just a cut scene i wouldnt of skipped it but with how they did it now, i honestly would not recommend this to any new players until they fix the jump into hevensward content

No, they would not change the design.
You can't being a level 1 and then jump straight to lv 51 - 60 contents, that's just irrational.
Main Story quests don't punish you, nobody's getting punished.

I shake my head why new people are complaining about main story quests, you can finish main quests in just several hours (non stop) or probably a day or two by skipping all the cutscenes.
If you were invited by your friends, then ask your friends to "come down" and help you doing story trials and dungeons, but don't expect you being a good player in this game if you're just fast progressing things. You'll be shocked at the new contents offered (Heavensward) because you are fast progressing things, without learning the game mechanics on the way up.

Oh man, I am literally on the way to quitting. Listen, this shit is ridiculous. I like plot, I do. I loved the story all the way up until I completed ARR 2.0. Then they put in a bullshit level cap of 50 just because you didn't drop money on the expansion yet. So, I put the money on the expansion because I enjoyed ARR... up until I found I had to play through the 101 (literally) quests they added as filler content. Don't forget that they include horrible duties that no one likes and no one wants to do. I am sitting in a queue that is literally at the 70 minute mark for a 15 minute average wait time. In that time, do you know what I'm doing? I'm doing nothing, because there are no quests at this point but story quests or quests that require me to be queued in a different dungeon. I would never in a million years level an alt through the story. You couldn't pay me to level another character through this drivel.

I do think it is important that players get the main points in the MSQ, but I do agree they shouldn't have to go through absolutely everything. I think a viable solution is to condense down the MSQ to only the vital ones and drastically increase xp in those to compensate.

70 minutes, that is a long time for a MSQ dungeon / trial. You can decrease your queue times by selecting all languages and checking Join in progress, and queueing during prime time for your server, e.g. 9pm EST.

That is your choice. When I was faced with long queue times (and I mean long back in the 2.0 days a 4 hour queue for a range DPS was common place) in the past I did the following with my time. Relic stuf / fates / alt class levelling / crafting / gathering.
Out of game activities, watch TV / Movie, read a book, etc....

My RL friend who completed MSQ till 2.2, purchased HW for the new contents,
then he had over 100quests and spent over 30hrs non stop skipping everything.

I am pretty sure, a lot of ppl here don't know how the feeling when someone just bought the expansion for new contents.

Why should the game, a final fantasy known for its story, change simply because your friend didn't do his research before a purchase. it was know MONTHS prior to the release that the MSQ would need to be completed. This thread is nothing but entitled whining because there is too much rpg in thier mmorpg. It is Final fantasy. Accept that story based rpg is the baseline of the series for DECADES. If that is not your thing. Im sorry to here that and wish you best with your next game.

As a fan of this game, I hope everyone especially those not play a lot on this game will still enjoy this game.
I just said I agree it is "un fun" as the OP subject and provided what I have seen how it is unfun to some players.

Btw, do your Final Fantasy only means ARR?
HW is an expansion, how to implement this expansion is not relevant to Final Fantasy series itself.
For example they can make an expansion which is another story therefore I don't agree with your statement.
