Release Isghard wards, let them become taken in 1 day, then release new wards after 1 year while 60% of slots are taken by players who stopped playing half year ago.
That is exactly the plan.

They should just let people lease rooms at the inn (even if the current one's free) based on their GC association and let that be their private room. Have it be exactly the same as the private room in FC houses but let the owners of these private rooms teleport to their room or the inn where the room is as if it's the same as having a real house.
They can decorate it as they please, invite other players in if they want to and SE should also allow the smallest garden plot to be put in that room if the player chooses to. Not sure about chocobo training, but can the players without houses train their chocobos at the porter? If so, the porter's usually near the inn anyway. Unless we want to let the chocobos into the rooms...
Housing in this game is despicable. Look at any slightly populated server, my case and point.
Housing is a huge part of this game, as a ton of people hang around in those areas if they are in a fair sized FC. I'm surprised SE has been so negligent on this topic.
Oh no! People are anxious about a part of the game that they have no way to access and the developers are oddly quiet about the glaring issues! Whatever will busy forum posters do!Every time I see future housing threads, I have to actively roll my eyes. It takes less effort to search the board for pre-existing threads than it does to actually make a new one and type out the questions that have already been answered literally hundreds of times before.
The reason I posted a new thread, in all honesty, was because it's difficult to rekindle a discussion in an aged thread. People should not stop talking about this issue, as it's not something silly like a cosmetic glitch, but an actual core feature of the game.
We need apartment buildings either in their own wards or added to existing ones. Make them work like FC houses with purchasable rooms but anyone can buy them. Have the common areas be prearranged and unable to be edited by the inhabitants. This way everyone gets a room to furnish but housing in general is still not instanced.
We dont need "apartments", we dont need more wards.
We need INSTANCED HOUSING. How hard is it to implement it? Freaking Runescape has instanced housing!!
You lose leadership of an FC after 35 days of not logging on. It was supposed to be the same with housing, until the General Populace pitched an epic bitchfit. You have no one to blame for the housing crunch but yourselves.
The fee gives you access to "all game contents". Investing more time doesn't give you more entitlement. It physically unlocks more for you, but it doesn't mean you are entitled to more; or conversely, it doesn't mean someone who pays $12.99 a month to go afk isn't entitled to have access to the content eventually. This is an important point. We all pay the same fees, we are all entitled to the same access. What we do in-game will decide what we actually do access, but not what we are entitled to access.
I may not be doing Savage, but I still have the same access entitlement as anybody else. What I do towards gearing up and practicing rotations, etc., will decide whether I do actually access Savage, not whether I am entitle to the access.
There simply isn't enough plots for everyone. And as most servers probably have all their S plots bought up, it means the rest of the population are forced to spend extra to buy something they don't want.
On top of that, earning gil has never been the core selling point of this game. Combat is. Yet the housing system is based entirely on your ability to earn more and earn quicker than others.
My jab at the current housing system is aimed at the developer's stubbornness in refusing to provide instanced housing which would have the easiest management requirement (no setting up wards), and eliminates competition between players (number of L:M:S plots can be dynamically allocated). The wards system was designed from the ground up to be a limited-supply system. And even if eventually enough wards are added so everyone can buy a plot, most people will have been forced to buy a bigger plot than they enjoy, spending 2 to 5 times the amount of gil they wanted to.
It's as if the server only allows 500 characters to reach Lv 60 for each job. Anyone late to the party? Sorry, you stay at level 50 until we upgrade the servers to allow the next 100 characters to hit Lv 60. Or it's as if the server only allow the first 500 parties to ever enter Savage to keep accessing Savage. You didn't make it? Well maybe in the next patch we'll open up another 100 parties.
It's all about access.
