I was hoping for another update yesterday but no luck. You would think we might have seen something more by now.
I would like them to eschew the planned D3D12 client, and go with Vulkan instead. This'll be the fifth renderer that the FFXIV team has written, but they couldn't write one for OS X citing develoent costs. Vulkan is multiplatform, and should be implemented on OS X. Instead of digging themselves deeper in platform specific code, I would implore the team to consider a Vulkan renderer, for the sake of OS X users.

I've tried it some, and was able to play reliably until recently. I keep crashing in HW dungeons.

anyone running windows 10 in bootcamp? how is it?
I have the preview build on my laptop, but it makes my fans go at max speed and the laptop is extremely hot while idle. Hotter than under load in OS X.
Today they suspended my account to remove the Mac license as I asked for a refund.
I got the refund like 2 weeks ago but got the keep the client until today - now it's gone![]()

Here's hoping SQEX have some sort of reward in the pipeline for those who supported the Mac version all the way through till it's good for sale again. Like how they reward players who continued to support the game from 1.0 all through till 2.0 with a legacy status mount.

Not sure our suffering is the same as the 1.0 people, but a cute pet might be worth the not asking for a refund loyalty to this poor neglected Mac client. And are any of us under any illusions or glamours about the chance that fixing the mac client will be anything on the scale of fixes 1.0 to 2.0 was? They'd have to go full on native Mac client written in Swift with OpenGL and Metal versions. I think if they went that far Yoshi would be have to eat his words about a game not being able to perform up to Windows standards on a Mac. But they won't... probably just slap some ridiculous requirements on the packaging, and cut their losses. Sorry for the negativity... its born of the lack of any real info since that letter Yoshi foisted on us.

osx is using metal not vulkan while vulkan is just a gaming version of open gl 4.x pretty much all the cruft is gone.. It wouldn't be supported under osx without them supplying the libraries to go with it and the driver would still have to support it as osx went with metal in el capitan while it still has open gl 4.1 + parts in it the underlining api is in fact metal.. Not to mention apple writes there own drivers... So unless you had a ati card and or a nvidia card where they do release osx drivers from time to time your SOL.
