A straight fight isn't the only way to deal with someone, or the only way to prove they are a threat to your society.

Im sure actual inquisitions had plenty of methods, not all of them honest, to have people question a man's nature enough to bring them to their clutches.

(But isn't this what happened in 2.55?)

Not exactly. There we were being set up for a crime, and it was largely because of our intact reputations an unquestionable nature that we were practically untouchable wherever we went.

That reputation, is what the inquisition would focus on. Make hearts and minds turn on their mark.

Except your character has essentially brought down the Inquisition's base for an attack by say the popularity. They can show some resistance to you and the struggles that Aymeric and the people now with a stronghold in Ishgard but you've already got your own in the House of Fortemps, the Commander of the Temple Knights, and even the lowborn. Anything they can do would be lesser than what was done to you for just a little bit with the end of 2.55.

They might not have an interest in screwing us over....yet. the power struggles of a new administration will likely be real, though.
But for storytelling purposes, it looks like the WoD needs something to work with, or he's basically just a monster of the week.

That could be either a reactionary group in ishgard, in the adventuring community, or some other thing that is not Nidhogg.

Im only speculating what could happen, they could stuff a few primals in and doom us to having to take calls from Minfillia telling us to listen to her in person again...

It's entirely possible that the unseen Warriors of Darkness will be the Scions that are still MIA. It'd fit with what Elidibus said when we first met him.

Even Ishgard knew that they have gone to far by killing AuRas for now reason. Just beacuse of their look. But given the timeline that happened like 20 - 30 years ago?
Now days they dont kill Auras on sight, just they arent kind of welcome. They dont accuse withouth a prove now, doesnt matter the race. But yea on those time they were crasy fanatic

Well we don't really know why he met with Urianger currently. All we know is that it was a matter concerning the fate of the entire planet but as of now we're still in the Dark about what is really going on behind the scenes and what is Elidibus' endgame is.

I dunno, I can't help but feel like the writing with regards to Ishgard puts them way to much into a positive light. Carelessly supporting the slaughter of heretics, "heretics", and dragons? Well they've been fed dogma for a thousand years what do you expect! Seemingly fine with Aymeric stomping around and overthrowing their religion? Well the lower class was treated badly anyways, apparently they're a-okay with it, same thing with the houses too. Why aren't Ishgardians incredibly dogmatic and showing resistance to their entire religious system being flipped on its head ( like with conservative Ishgardian factions, maybe a civil war that lasts longer than 30 minutes, people in the streets trying to convince others that Aymeric was brainwashed by the dragons and trying to lead people astray or something). Alternatively if that's not the case completely, that means Ishgardians supported killed people because it was just easier than actually trying to prove that person's innocence or maybe let that instance of "heresy" slide beneath the table because they're not actively harming anyone. Like.. We know Ishgardians are able to separate themselves from their dogmatic lifestyles too, the Heretics seemed to be fairly reasonable sans a few instances like the whole plot in Central Coerthas (Any other time they've attacked us I think it'd because we were stepping in their turf iirc).

I really hope we see more instances of us being put in opposition to Ishgard, either to any new conservative faction or making them work to pay off the whole "Killing heretics, "heretics", and dragons indiscriminately" deal.
