That reason may hold up for normal coil (although I still think it should be done properly), but it has absolutely no bearing on savage, since normal mode exists.
I'm still trying to grasp the point you're attempting to make. If you've completed it or even if you haven't, why would you care. It's not like completing this content gives any kind of competitive edge, is it simple elitism? Or do you have a valid concern.

I agree with the OP, Savage Coil has no relation to the story and was a raid put in place for players to give them selves a really tough challenge, it doesn't gate out any other content and doesn't drop anything worth killing it for, the only reward is a title. People are saying it shouldn't matter who has the titles, but thats the common entitled attitude I've noticed is common on these forums. Teams worked really hard to get their clears, and clearing a turn at the time was seen as a big achievement, it shouldn't be given out to others so easily when it has no real effect on the games progression or story.
Either way the mechanics will mess up players who are level 60, but I can see fights like T6 and 9 being trivial in an un-synced group.
So long as going unsynced is an option and not a straight out nerf, who cares. If you want it synced, then run it synced.

People care waaaaay too much for these things. It's outdated content and no one is gonna care when VII remake or the next FF MMO comes out.

In specific cases of Savage Coil too much DPS will cause rotations to start over on a phase change at in-opportune times leading to certain death.
The mechanically dense nature of the fights ensure that players cannot bully through them with numbers alone.

To revive a dead thread- As somebody who hasn't cleared savage coil, I agree with the op. There should be some things in a game that remain elite. Is that "elitist"? Of course it is. Is that a bad thing? No. It is fun to get things that are rare, and it is less fun when they become less rare.
That people do things which I don't/can't do, makes the game world more interesting.
Edit: At the same time, I can understand that older content can be more quickly ignored if it doesn't evolve. Asking players to forego all their new skills, and wipe a lot.. This is quite the deterrent and goes a long ways to making coil savage completely empty of players.
Also, elite players have an added incentive to do the new elite thing vs "resting on laurels."
If elite content had seasonal rewards, whatever they may be, for clearing pre-nerf, that'd be cool.

The whole point of Savage ScoB was to bring challenge. And as many said, it doesn't give anything but titles because the story is in normal and the gear is the same as normal.
So why would you kill the challenge for the sake of killing it? That's non-sense.
