With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.

So then... give them to the vendor? I just don't understand why someone would slash the price so much on something that'll clear the MB fast anyway. If the item is that useless and you care that little about profit, just drop it on the ground or give it to a vendor.
To each his own I guess, but that kind of behavior is exactly why threads like these are started. There's nothing inherently wrong with undercutting and people can do what they want with their items, but it gets frustrating when people take it to the extreme for no real reason other than "because [they] can".
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.

Wait wait wait, so you can make money overprizing your shit, but I can't make money undercutting? Sorry you are just greedy people annoyed because I'm selling something for less money than you. I'm pretty sure I will make happier someone with my items than you trying to sell your overprized mats.

Let me explain myself another way.
Scenario A: You have an item that's listed for 15,000,000 gil. You check the sale history and realize not a single one has sold in weeks. So you start moving the price down gradually over the course of a few days until you finally find a price someone is willing to pay. That final price winds up being in the neighborhood of 5,000,000.
Scenario B: You have an item that's listed for 1,000 gil. You check the sale history and realize it sells in an hour or two. You decide to list yours for 990 gil so when the next time someone buys one yours will be the first to go.
Scenario C: You have some items that are listed for 1,000 gil. You check the sale history and realize full stacks clear in five minutes or less. You decide to list all of yours for 100 gil because you don't care and just want to get rid of them.
Scenario A is fine. Scenario B is fine. Scenario C makes absolutely no sense and is the kind of frivolous undercutting that's frowned upon.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.

ooo what about Scenario D (or more likely an amendment to C)
You have some items that are listed for 1,000 gil. You check the sale history and realize full stacks clear in five minutes or less. You decide to list all of yours for 100 gil even though it sells to an NPC for 120 gil <- this just drives me nuts

I thought about adding that and got lazy when I hit the character limit and didn't feel like editing around it.ooo what about Scenario D (or more likely an amendment to C)

You even said in the scenario. They don't care and just want to get rid of them. The point is to basically give them away to someone who wants to use it. It would be too time consuming to find someone without the marketboard that can use your item.Scenario C: You have some items that are listed for 1,000 gil. I personally don't give a shit about making gil and especially not trivial amounts of gil in the thousands and wouldn't care about putting a bunch of things up for 1 gil to make room in my bags. If they can be a help to someone else then great.
Yup.Enjoy that. It's a win-win situation. The seller gets rid of the item and gets money, you get more money.
If you are not a crafter there are few things you NEED gil for, and those are rather cheap.
