Why does BLM armor need to look bad? Like a homeless person/ jester/joker

I dont mind the AF sets, but I will definitely admit I am sick to DEATH of ROBES.

God I feel this so much. It's extra bad as a healer that plays a male character. Most of the robes are clearly designed for women, so I oftentimes have to deal with a more feminine look. While this doesn't bother me, I get tired of it. I'm severely limited in masculine looking gear as a healer, so I have a tendency to just rotate through a handful of glamours, and it's beginning to get boring >= At least I have the Thavnairian set I guess.

I believe youre thikning BRD not BLM. I was literally wearing a green version of that hat until a couple days ago. Not to mention wearing the bottom half for most of level 50.

I havent seen many horribly looking BLM's yet honestly. There is that one that looks like youre late for the Mad Hatters Tea Party... but even that one pales in comparison to a 12th century peasant who juggled for a living. Hell I thought it was a pretty interesting design.

I dunno... When I think of mages, I think of scholarly introverts, studying dusty tomes and puzzling out the secrets of the universe; not really the sort of folks who'd parade around doing battle in sexy lingere. XD

That said, glamour your mage up in the Thav set, and you'll wind up with a caster almost exactly like the ones you've pictured. Taffetta is another more affordable option that gives you the sexy look for your mage, albiet one that's been thoroghly played out by now.

Honestly, though, the base design for BLM-specific SHOULD be a "serious" take on what the job should look like, not something ripped off the cover of a romance novel. If you want to sexy up your mage, that's fine. It's what glamour is all about. But in my mind the only jobs whose job-specific equipment should look like this by default are ones that are actually meant to be entertainers of some kind, like Bards or Dancers.

I'd rather not have a Mage robe version of a battle bikini. I can't say I'd complain much if one or two glamour sets like that were released as long as the male versions weren't wildly different and we still got other styles of glams as well, but I'd honestly prefer something a little more toned down.

The less covered you are the more stats you get in some of the things I played. "The best gear for optimal protection is a thin gold chain around the waist!". Although here it went on the opposite end of the spectrum where it looks excessively frumpy.


Joking aside, WHM also has this problem. I dislike how many of the robes look like they are real thick quilts. The Cashmere Robe of Healing is a good example of robes done nicely while still showing the body's shape.
