I'll just throw my two cents here, from someone who mains Astrologian and was "forced" to switch to Scholar after several fails. The result was: no actual improvement, since the problem wasn't in the healing end. Two of my DPS weren't using high tier food and weren't using Draconian potions to boost DPS. Basically, Astrologians have been made scapegoats to a 2.0 meta that's being forced on raid groups on 3.0, when new metas should start being created. Switching to a healing class people are already familiar with is going to make things easier. However, this is being lazy and stressing over something that's not a real problem.
Some people may argue that the other new jobs are not having as many problems. There's also a reason for that: they had a lot of time do train their DPS rotations on dummies; there are no dummies that can prepare a healing/support class to a Raid. I really think the discussions around Astrologians are being very biased and are not considering the big picture.
