In most cases, yeah.

In some cases though people RP a choice that actively, significantly hinders the party's capability. A BLM who only casts ice spells is horrific in terms of actually doing their job. Even if they're putting out a tiny bit of DPS, the fact is that they're at best slowing the party down and at worst potentially crippling the entire party and making things several times harder than they need to be because it's one of a number of fights that have 'soft' DPS checks via bosses that get harder and harder as time goes on; or some bosses that have straight up deadly mechanics if DPS is slow (eg Haukke HM)

And unlike people who are just bad because they don't know better, these people are actively choosing to shoot themselves and their parties in the foot.

If you're queueing with friends for a full party whatever. Do what you want. Don't deliberately force other players in DF to work harder to make up for you.

Seriously guys. I've been part of a lot of rp communities, and not once have I known of actual roleplayers who do this kind of thing as reported in the OP... They were trolls, plain and simple - people who more likely than not think rpers are idiots.

I'm an RPer and even i agree that random DF is not the place to Rp. All dungeon rps I've done have been in full groups premade. Sometimes not everyone in it IS an RPer but they're still friends that know what's going on.

EDIT: Okay, seriousness time. I'm still adapting to the style of RP people in this game use. My character actually started off as a pacifist who, over time, became a tough guy. Now he's not afraid to kick some butt.

...And he loves the masseur biz. Just saying. Don't mind me standing right behind you during those big, scary duty runs. It's a comfort thing. No, really!

I actually got invited to a RP'ing FC once. But I didn't join b/c I was scared I wouldn't be able to have real conversations with them. I'd only like to witness the RP'ing from afar I guess.
