RPing with randoms in DF is pretty rude to be honest. Most RPers I've known over playing many MMOs (last RP server i was on was with Rift). Dropped RP for dungeons as you can't RP killing the same boss over and over.

Or if they were serious about RPing, they were with a group also RPing who all rolled into the content together.

If you are the only one RPing in a dungeon, why even bother? The randos you are with DO NOT CARE.

I've never seen people do this through the Duty Finder. That's just unfair to everyone.

I can say that some in-character runs of dungeons can (and have) been quite fun, where gear/items have been purposely equipped (or unequipped) to make a dungeon more difficult. (Run Sastasha in your starter clothes and a low-level weapon, you'll have a blast).

Generally though, those IC dungeons tend to be filled/premade groups. With the new DF where we don't need to have a fullsized group, I expect to see less of these situations happening.

I've run into this once or twice via duty finder, it's really rare but does happen. The most memorable (and most recent) was in Satasha normal mode, where I roulette landed in a group of three others who RP'd in say as we went along. I'm not an RP'er myself, but since they didn't address me, I let them do their thing and didn't pay much attention. Whatever floats yer collective boats, man. We reached the second boss in Satasha (the pirate guy, with the dog adds) and killed him without incident. They all started spouting off in caps in say something congratulatory, like God Save the Queen or something medieval like that, and all three disbanded at once without a word to me. I was rather put out at having to re-queue as a DPS.

tl;dr, I don't much care if you RP in dungeons so long as you still do your job and don't leave the non-RPers in your group in a bind if you decide your storyline ends before the dungeon does.

In all seriousness though, I agree. Those sound like fun RP ideas that would be a blast with a full group of the right people, but these guys need to know that stepping into a group that isn't there specifically to RP and trying to force them into your RP idea is rude. Most people in DF just want to get the thing done and go bye-bye, they don't want to wipe more than necessary so the scholar can settle some random dispute with their fairy or the black mage thinks he's Elsa.

Exactly.

RP is great and all, but it doesn't belong in party content UNLESS you specifically make a party of RPers. And if someone asks an RPer politely to "put it aside" for DF content, and they still refuse, then they have no right to complain when they are kicked.
