Why do I get the feeling Mide may betray us later in the Alexander Storyline?

Mide been showing some signs of facination with Alexander everytime it comes down to talking about Alexander.

We know her goal is to obtain the Engima Codex but we also know that the Engima Codex is the key to controlling Alexander. The story even heavily implies she may have been involved with the Failed Summoning of Alexander in the event 3 years before current Alex Storyline along side her so called "friend".


I just can't get rid of this feeling she may end up being the Nael Van Darnus of the Alexander story. Only difference is that we're helping her rather than fighting her.

So what do you all think will happen later in Alex storyline?

I'm personally surprised Cid hasn't caught onto the deja vu of it all.

The entire thing feels almost exactly the same as the Crystal Tower story: large overhyped landmark, appearances from key MSQ characters, and the surprise walk-on minority character with a "mysterious" connection to the doomsday-device-of-the-week. Only real difference so far is that instead of investigating in the hopes of finding some sort of connection, Mide is upfront pretty much from the start that Alexander itself is her primary motivation.

Calling it now, but the end result will probably be the same, too. She'll find some way to sacrifice herself so that the dream can live on while simultaneously making sure none of it ever has to be brought up again as a plot point.

I think Cid doesn't suspect her due to how Mide gets a long very well with Roundrox. Roudrox is the innocent character of the Alexander Storyline and it was stated Roundrox is still young in Goblin age.

Mide is already starting to become a older sister figure for Roundrox this early in the Alex Storyline.

I think Mide is more connected that we know. Like...

...she's one of Alexander's aspects, connected. The timing of her appearance is suspect, her knowledge of Alexander is suspect, her being a Machinist is suspect... Nothing about her isn't suspect. And the fact she has rather detailed knowledge of an item that entails the creation of Alexander...

...hard not to see it.

Anyone notice she has a Griever-like emblem on her chest and a blue gunblade?

The armor and gunblade are both available to players. The armor looks like one of the leveling pieces dyed silver. The gunblade, called Blue Steel, is from a dungeon.

Well, considering how nicely the Au Ra have been treated if the White Mage, Ninja and Dark Knight job quests are to be believed, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to believe that Mide wants Alexander to be a sanctuary for her own people, rather than the Goblins/Illuminati.

And then they all went mad with power and went on murderous adventures. Yay!

We will use Echo and look into her past, then we will see:

When she got the scar, she had lost a beloved friend and changed sides. The Goblins betrayed her! Because of her losing the fight back then, she had to wait for someone who can "win", so that she can get revange.

Maybe to make up for her mistakes 3 years ago she is willing to shut down alexander!

Mide is already starting to become a older sister figure for Roundrox this early in the Alex Storyline.

The relationship is inverted, but Roundrox is just there to be the obligatory "one left behind." She's the Ramnbroes to Mide's G'raha: just there to be a person whose dialogue changes to show that what we did had some effect on someone, just not that stoic, forgetful bastard Cid Garlond and his entourage. Unfortunately, I feel it's less a question of "if" she'll disappear forever at the end, but "how."

Hmm...

Mide actually died taking part in the first summoning, and our mysterious "he" found a way to keep her alive by inhibiting the completion of the summoning. But now the Illuminati have found it, and they want to do bad things with the aether-sucking primal, so we have to stop it, but if we shut down Alexander, Mide loses life support. Cry, swoon, "this is the only way," "we'll build your dream for you," "we'll never forget you!" (LIES).

Something like that?

I wouldn't be surprised if Mide is already dead. She keeps on touching her scar everytime on each Alex Floor as if it is constantly burning her with pain each time she looks back into her past.
