Several nitpicks/questions on MSQ [spoilers]

Possible they already access to the aether needed via the other eye - in the quest "Alphinaud's Way we see where one (Ser Zephirin) can already transform, and we know they've long had the body of Haldrath and thus the other eye.

I don't think when it's used to create the blade and turn Thordan VII into a primal that it was the first time it was used. Smaller amounts of aether used to create the less powerful primal forms of the twelve is, I believe, a likely course of events.

I'm not clear on what they needed from Azys Lla regarding their plans (perhaps something related to better harnessing the power, or better controlling it when summoned), but the aether needed almost certainly in their possession well before we even came to Ishgard.

It's said in the first EX primal quest that he wanted to tap into the Warring Triad's power, which fits with what he says at the start of the KotR phase("Ascalon, drink deep of the power of slumbering gods!").

Just finished MSQ yesterday, I have several questions (or maybe nitpicks).

Q1. Why did the emperor leave when Livia come in with her magitek armor? I am pretty sure his big ship can do support fire like Gaius' in 1.0's Futures Perfect and it would blow us up pretty good.

because...plot! otherwise Livia probably would have just blown up the emperor with her own armor. it's not as if he has any special powers. also it's not as if those cannons are tiny. any direct hits may just as easily blow him up as well.

Q2. When we finally got to ram into Azys Lla's shield, the opening looks just large enough for the Enterprise Excelsior. But then the battleship start chasing us, leading to Shiva's final performance. Does that mean our ram actually completely destroyed the shield forever, leaving Azys Lla a free-for-all in the future?

gone, dead, shorted. the eye probably overloaded the generator, and it's 5000 years in disrepair.

Q3. Do we know if the emperor is still on the ship after Ysayle's kamikaze?

likely unless they evacuated him to garlemad before the dreadnought chased the enterprise, seeing as how there is no actual actual way for him to get back now that the boat is too damaged to move he's probably stuck there.

Q4. Y'Shtola claimed she used flow to escape, after trying to teleport Thancred. Is there any evidence that a "teleport other" is possible in Eoreza?

likely, since this was a sharlayn magick (a highly unstable one). if we can summon an idea and give it shape, who's to say we can't move someone from one place to another?

Q5. Minfilia claimed she received a call from Hydaelyn telling her to go help, but Y'Shtola did not mention having seen her. Am I forgetting something or is there any reason that would explain how this can be?

she probably wasn't fast enough, that's all. Minfilia has been pretty useless anyways.

Q6. I am a bit confused about how did Thordan and his knights "consume" Ratatoskr. Wouldn't having her eyeballs be enough?

why stop at the eyes when you can partake of every fiber of a ancient dragon? there has to be something gained from it.

Q7. Are the Heavens' Ward's transformation more of a "dragon's cursed blood" thing or more of a primal thing? They don't seem to have any crystals/power source on hand when changing, unlike Iceheart.

primal, exactly like Ysale. the dragon cursed blood is more estinien's thing (has dragon blood in him, covered in nidhogg's blood, holding too wellsprings of seething rage.) and the heretic's domain.

Q8. Does this Tataru outfit exists in game or some kind of dev fan-service?

dyed valentines day outfit, with a few extras.

Q9. On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are we going to see Path Companions in some capacity? The storyline seems to be heading towards confrontation with another set of people with power of the echo...

i hope we see them, i would love to meet a npc (maybe even travel with them?) 1.0 players got to befriend. i'm sure legacy would love to be reunited with their path companions too.

might be for your chocobo. i would love to see more people/summonables that can tag along with us during general travel though.

The update was pretty minimal for retainers; all it did was allow us to see what our retainers are carrying and what ventures they're currently going through.

Companions refers to your Company Chocobo and they've mentioned wanting to expand that to also include your Magitek Armour, Maggie (The latter being the reason they called it Companion instead of something like 'Buddy' like the JP roughly translates to).
