Really enjoying new PvP

So, I'm REALLY liking the new PvP mode. Dynamic, and engaging, as well as an interesting map. (Now if only people could master the phrase "Fall back, stop feeding them kills, lol")

I REALLY hope we see more love for PvP in the future. Perhaps more maps, varied objectives, and modes without GC restrictions. Even if they argue "lore" for battles in the flats, its 10 lines of dialog to say "The (Blah) is hosting a contest of arms! Magic will ensure no one dies. Sign up here!"

There are so many things they could do. Free for all in an instanced Ul'Dah or Gold Saucer. Capture the flag with two "Castrums" set up opposing sides. A mode in which A and S ranks spawn on a map, and teams get points for killing each other, or damaging the monsters, but the monsters also fight back. Duels in the gladiatorial arena!

Those are just off the top of my head. I know PvP isn't a "focus" for ARR, but that doesn't mean it can't be made even better then it is now. I might even argue that since it isn't a focus, the developers could take greater risks without damaging the core game.

(Maybe if we all like and post in this thread, and convince them we like PvP, we'll get more PvP)

I'm enjoying the new PvP as well. I've already capped esoterics for the week on Seal Rock alone. I like the idea of earning currency for PvP not that I need any incentive to play it, its just an added bonus for me.

I tried it last time and it's pretty nice, semi secure and semi savage. But what surprised me is the cometeor takes 3/4 of my HP o_o (I'm healer) usually at savage it only take 1/3 damage.

I enjoy it myself as well. Can finally PvP aggressively as my MNK. And the gear rewards from the achievements that we get on a amount of wins we earn looks bad ass (IMO). Been in nearly 900 matches of frontlines. Another few hundreds for the rewards won't be that big of a deal xD

im rank 14 now it's been about a day and a half so hopefully within the week/month
but if anyone has some math on this it would be welcome

I dont know if they boosted exp, but it took me 3 months, 10 games a day to go from 15 to 40
but that was before they added silly personal lb, I haven't touched pvp since :c

I think Seal Rock is perhaps my favorite addition to PvP, certainly makes up for 48-Secure being removed and makes up for Slaughter being... Slaughter... (OK, 24-Slaughter has grown on me)

Nothing particularly accurate, but I've gone from Rank 44 to Rank 46 off 34 matches since Seal Rock hit (~20 of those were on Tuesday), to give you an idea of how long the higher Ranks take to level.

Roughly speaking, Rank 1 to 50 can either take you 2/3s of a year doing only the Duty Roulette, or it can take you 5~10 weeks if you do 10~20 matches a day. That's if you do the Roulette ever day, with a 300 EXP average, but completely omitting the Challenge Log bonuses. Given you're already Rank 14 already, I'd say a month or two at the most.
