i170 + melds is better than both though

Is there a craft-able ilvl170 gathering set?
I have yet to see it on any site/database.

As you can see i changed it before you commented(thought this was DoH thread), however you cannot max the stats on some of the i150 gear as listed above, take the serpentskin body for example you need 10 perc 20 gathering and 5 gp to max it out, this is impossible cause you cant use rank 5 materia.

Is this confirmed that you can't? Has it been tried?
Even then, ignore the GP meld and you still got the same difference in perception and gathering.

I've tried using rank 5 materia and you can't because it requires an item of ilvl 160 or higher. It's impossible to max out the hq gathering body. You have to use all rank 4 materias. +Gathering rank 4 only grants +6. You'd need to use 3 rank 4 materias plus one rank 3 materia to reach the max cap on gathering. You can only meld 5 materia on one piece of equipment.

Squenix really likes to make things complicated for no reason.
Anyway I still won't be touching that i180 gear from red scrips apart from main hand tools.
