The aura is visually distracting and the fact it can remain up indefinitely while people are AFK out of combat means it's a very common, very obvious, very persistent distraction.

I almost hate to use it in dungeons myself for the same reason. Either let it be affected by combat effects settings, switch it out, or disable it until the new one is ready. PLEASE. (And to those that wonder how a DRK will remember if it's active if there is no visual effects, please go look at other tank jobs.)

I want to preface this statement with the understanding that, I agree the Darkside Aura is a bit much, and should be reduced to a black fire around the feet or something. The problem with comparing our Darkside aura to other tank stances is that when we run out of mp, our aura goes away giving a visual queue that Darkside fell off due to bad mp managment. That doesn't happen for other tank stances. Grit/ Shield & Sword Oaths/ Defiance & Deliverance are stances, and as such have no visual queues, and also stay on until toggled off. Darkside is not a tank stance, it is a constant MP drain effect, and other party member's job abilities interact with it. AST Ewer cards won't work if it is on, along with BRD/MCH mp refresh songs/turrets. So having a visual representation for the effect makes since, it allows players at a glance to know if they should or shouldn't help the DRK with mp.

We are not here in opposition of the visual cue. However like you we wish to have the animation that was displayed in the job trailer, a cue that is more aesthetically pleasing.

I'd be more that happy with the black flames or the War wrath animation recolored black and red.

The aura on the left is what it should look like imo. It's already in the game from lvl 50 drk quest. Square please let me has and it is close to the body so it won't mess with anyone's precious screenshots.
