Basically you just download reshade+framework 18.7(19 does not work with xiv yet, at least not to my knowledge.) run it and point it toward the FFXIV.exe if it gives you the option to install dx11 or dx9 click the one you use. If not just install and go to your game folder, locate the two .dll's(this is if you did not get a specific option to install) and delete either dxgi.dll(dx11) or if you use dx9 d3d9.dll. Download a preset you want to use, follow the instructions and happy tweaking

It's insane how much you can pull out with Reshade. Ishgard looks so Grey rather then Dark and a Dangerous Place.

Well, "very accurate" is stretching it quite a lot. All existing AO techniques are pretty much hacks.

It's definitely less inaccurate than traditional SSAO but you pay for it though.

I read up on Reshade a little, apparently it attempts to grab the depth buffer, that's why it could do DoF.

To be frank, it would be better if SE just added a DoF option. The engine can already do it given that you have the option to enable DoF during cutscenes.

So I managed to get it to work with DX9. But It refuses to work at all with DX11. Any ideas?

I'm sure depth of field can make for some really neat screenshots (especially when the focal point is a character or close-up object), but wouldn't it feel weird to actually play with that turned on constantly? In real life, I can focus my eyes to clearly see things far away and up close alike (just not both at the same time). A lot of these screenshots make it look like distant landmarks are always blurred beyond recognition.

Did you delete the d3d9.dll when trying to run the client in dx11?

So pretty~ I wish I could get my game to look like that while I'm playing. The ultra vibrant colors are pretty. Right now, if I play too long, my eyes eventually glaze over b/c everything starts to look the same.

    Thanks for sharing, Onikimaru.

Edit: OooOoohh.. It's a thing you download? I'll have to figure this out this weekend when I have time to read the thread fully. I just looked at the pretty pictures.

Double-checked just now, and yes I did delete the D3D9.dll and Reshade does not start when I launch the game.

However, If I run the game in DX9 Reshade starts up.

There are two .dll files included with the Reshade+framework package. The notes say to determine which dll you need based off whether the game is 32 or 64-bit. I have tried renaming the reshade32.dll to dxgi.dll like is says to do in the README and place it in the game folder but it still didnt change anything.

Edit: Nvm fixed. Turns out though my task manager lists FFXIV process as a 32-bit client. The DX11 must actually 64-bit. Renaming the reshade64.dll (instead of the reshade32 file) to dxgi.dll fixed the issue.

Thank you for the help. Looks stunning and that awful haziness is gone :3
