    [Suggestion] Make Open World PVE EXP Chains a thing again

    The title speaks for itself. Please allow open world PVE EXP to be equivalent of that of the EXP you can earn by doing FATEs in the zone. Tired of having FATEs crammed down my throat as the only open world PVE EXP grind.
    1.0 was beautiful at doing this. EXP chains mattered. Grouping up and getting to the back of a stronghold mattered. There was gear to be obtained, EXP to be gained in the open world itself.
    Why are FATEs and instanced dungeons the only way to grind for EXP?
    Don't even bother showing me I just had an EXP chain because it doesn't even matter, in the end all your EXP comes from the bonus of the FATE, or the bonus of the Dungeon.
    Are these really my only two choices?
    What happened to gathering together as adventurers in the open world of Eorzea, picking a good spot to camp and group as many mobs together at once repeatedly for EXP?
    What has resulted - Open world EXP farming for FATE's is notoriously botted now. Trash SB gear is frequently brought into dungeons because its the only place they can obtain good SB (T4 pre 3.0 for example.)
    Go see for yourself by reading the threads complaining about it, or just spend 60s in Northern Thanalan.
    The game is becoming less and less about random adventurers gathering together, it's more like this solo MMO where everyone gets a piece of the pie as long as they get one Aero in before the FATE is complete.
    I got all my jobs in 1.0 to 50. Why? Because it was actually fun to group up and gain EXP. The thought of getting all of my other jobs now to 60 simply through FATE and Dungeon grinding, simply isn't fun. I've been a subscriber since 2010... and well... I feel like I'll always be here, but I'm starting to lose a lot of interest.

    I agree with you all the way. The old ff I would play till 2 or 3 in the morning in exp parties for days, it was very challenging. Fates and the like are great I guess for people that gotta have it all as fast as possible, I'm kind of a pod person (don't care a wit about gearing up to the max, iknow, what a nub :/ ) and play games for fun and to relax from rl stress. Exp parties were a blast and it didn't seem like there was so much pressure for gear. It wasn't always awesome, few things are, but I was hooked on it. /shrug

    Seriously, why dont they bring this back?
    I entered 2.0 with all 50's, so i didn't realize that lvling up was exclusively done through FATE's, Dungeons & Quest turn ins.
    I think I may take a break for a while, this is kind of a game breaker.

    I prefer grinding mobs over anything else. I hate the only way to level other classes/jobs is fates or those slow boring dungeons.
    There's nothing wrong with options.

    Hi, devil's advocate here!
    Pitching a tent and farming enemies with friends honestly just sounds like a really long FATE.

    That being said, I agree there's not much of a sense of community when you're leveling up in the open world. Even if you hop into a party through PF, it ends up being a game of silent whack-a-mole 95% of the time. Trying to find a party for something other than FATEs is silly, because no such thing exists. It's a real shame, and I'm glad I have friends and an FC to keep me company.

    You have just to kill enemies with 1 or more level higher than yours.

    But what SE can bring back is party exp from linked leves.

    Yes, they exist, but don't matter as much as they used to.
    In the end, what matters most is the bonus you get for completing the fate or dungeon.
    The chains are there, but they simply do not matter as much.

    Different strokes for different folks, but I always found sitting in one place waiting for people to bring in mobs, killing them all, then waiting again to be far more boring and mindless than any FATEs or dungeon.

    What makes you think that camped EXP parties wouldn't be at least as botted as FATE parties? Probably even more so, since it's a much less engaged and complex method of gaining EXP than FATEs.

    and here I'd just be happy if new content fates where more worthwhile exp wise than old content. People are literally grinding old content in the form of fates rather than experiencing new content because heavensward fates aren't rewarding in the least by comparison. That's a problem, if for no other reason than it's a poor design choice.

    So please do something to ease the leveling curve for alt jobs.
