He only achieved that because of the phase skipping. Otherwise he would have suffered the loss of downtime.

Every single DPS class suffers almost equally from the downtime loss. So the accomplishment still stands.

Bard's always been one of the burstiest classes, not saying it isn't a great accomplishment because it is, but pushing phases that have 1.5x dps like that helps them out more than it would help out say a blm

It's a self fulfilling prophecy. Th group was doing a lot of damage, thus they were able to skip phases, thus they were able to continue to dps the boss even harder, allowing them to skip more phases and getting higher dps because they don't have much down time because they were skipping mechanics.
