I can confirm that A4 orbs are indeed taking damage reduction buffs into account. As DRK I most of the time hit Shadow Wall and jump in 5-6 balls without any healing. When I use no CD and pop Living Dead, it only takes 3 orbs to make me enter the Walking Dead state.
