whit 17k of vit you can take the balls fast and 0 issues in A4, i get 5/6 balls very fast thnaks to mi vit and shadowskin/wall the i have a good dps whit grit around 400-500 so the adds in quarentine fall fast, so is not useless too.
Are tanks that bad that they need tons of wasted stats put into VIT instead of just using their CDs properly?
Raiding is a group effort and if you're not putting out all the dps you can, no matter what your role, you're a hindrance.

What really matters is the defense of the armor. VIT matters less if tanker doesn't know how to manage defense cooldowns properly. I sport half VIT/STR accessories on my WAR and I do just fine main tanking. Going full VIT is just wasteful and unnecessary.
Dummies are dummies and that's just that. It's better to use real data. Phase changes, taking care of mechanics, throwing out the odd Stoneskin and Clemency etc will all lower your dps.
PLD conclusions apply to PLD. WAR conclusions apply to WAR. WAR conclusions do not automatically apply to PLD. So it is necessary to consider all three tank jobs individually and separately.
So what kind of PLD dps are you actually seeing in A4N?

Your job, like everyone else in your raid group, is to defeat the encounter. That doesn't mean just sitting and soaking up hits. It means contributing whatever you can, including high DPS if you're capable of it. Tanks are very capable of it, and there are no fights in HW right now that require you to have more VIT than what you get just from your left side gear.
Our tanks hold aggro and don't die, and also each contribute 800-900 DPS. Boss dies faster, adds die faster, healer MP is less strained because everything is dying faster. Why would you choose to hold aggro and not die, but do half the dps you're capable of?
