Furthermore, I do believe pvp rank should not be attached to your GC, allowing you to retain all your hard fought for pvp xp if you want to "Cross the Floor"After 428 frontline matches(should've seen the cranker I rolled for my 420th lol) starting back on the day the patch hit(wann talk about 90k dcs, let me tell you..) and ill admit the majority of my matches lie in the 3rd place catergory, but I digress; I chose B solely for the fact that there is no way that I am going into battle with someone sharing either that treehugging or sand merchant logo waiting for the gate to drop at SouthCentral station. #Maelstrom4Life Till Sea Swallows All!
The Crimson Slayers (to friends on server, we're the "Old Sow" look it up) is recruiting. Join us for Maelstrom PVP on #Zalera!
Yeah agreed there, that's one reason I don't like the current system and as people rank up it provides a growing disincentive to change GC. Bandwagoners have nothing to lose in changing GC really, but no way in hell I'm going to give up the ability to equip my i110 PVP gear. Personally, I think playing alongside some of the best (and also unlikely to change GC for the same reason) players in each of the other two GC's would make this more interesting and it's not like there are any big secret GC specific strategies that stay that way very long. Especially since some people have multiple characters anyway.

So how would slaughter operate. Currently there are clear strats within gcs. With no GC and random queues what happens? Some of A stays mid some go markets....same with C.... it would be pretty unorganized. Not that it isnt already, but at least with GC separation you see those strats form and people have an idea of what everyone else in the group is going to do. Without that people are really gonna do whatever they want with no real focus or strategy. Or you get matches where three people who are "leader" all suggest strats and you end up in chaos + arguments. I can just see so many situations where queuing with complete randoms knowing you may not que with them again ends up so poorly and realllly degrades the atmosphere.

Are people really that stupid (sorry, no offence :P)? there is a 2 min prep time, and even some noobs seems to (at least) get the gist of a 72 man frontline the 1st time. It's would be less complex then an alliance raid. A, B and C tends to get certain roles in certain fights. In the aforementioned GC-less PvP one would lose the GC role comfort zone for each new starting point, yes, but as with raids, there are certain complexities you have to know about depending on you alliance letter. Getting used to it shouldn't be too hard. The only extra thing you have to check is your starting location.
No GC at all !!!
Parties composed of 2 divisions, not three: parties consisting of 1/8 min - 3/8 max healers and rest dps & tanks.
GCs are single handedly drowning pvp in FFXIV. Players don't care what GC they pvp for. Just give us freaking pvp man.... ffs
I'm not one to necro bump threads typically, but now that the subject is back up with the new FL map I thought this might be relevant again. For anyone who wanted the GC restriction to stay at the time we asked this, I'm curious if you still feel that way based on how things played out, or would you change your vote?

Remove it, remove it and remove it a third time. Preserving lore is fine and dandy but when its hurting the game sacrifices must be made. It's been said before but the work around is giving people the OPTION to que solo as a mercenary OR a Grand Company Soldier.

I still like the sense of team play the Grand Companies bring to Frontlines and wouldn't want to see them completely removed. I think doing that would do more harm than good, personally. It would be great for queues, sure, but I think any sense of community would fall apart and Frontlines would just become the playground for statics, which is obviously not what SE intended Frontlines to be; they've always been clear on it being casual, entry level PvP for anyone. Grand Companies are a part of that. You're automatically in a team when you queue Frontlines, whether its your first match or you hundredth.I'm not one to necro bump threads typically, but now that the subject is back up with the new FL map I thought this might be relevant again. That's not to say I think the restriction should be as draconian as it is. They could easily ease up on it and just give us a Mercenary system which simply puts priority on placing people in the right Grand Company. Too many Maelstrom, not enough Flames, stick some Maelstrom in with the Flames for a match. Add an additional bonus for fighting as a Mercenary to encourage actually playing, rather than sabotaging. It would also nicely deal with bandwagoning to a different Grand Company; People might leave the Twin Adder in droves, but that just means Twin Adder needs to rely on Mercenaries, meaning the people you left Twin Adder to "win with" could end up being Mercenaries for the Twin Adder in your next match, if you're not yourself.
That, I still think, is the ideal solution. I'd probably still do Frontlines is they just made it another case of Fangs verses Claws, but I'd enjoy it infinitely less. It would just be another Duty Finder thing where I get random people who I don't care to communicate with, rather than what it currently is, where I can see the same people time after time, both allies and enemies. I enjoy that, I'd hate to see it gone. If statics end up dominating in a Grand Company-less Frontlines, like I suspect they would, I'd probably just get my gear and stop though. "Remove Grand Companies" is a knee-jerk response to the queue problem IMO.

Remove the GC restrictions on queues AND PvP Gear like Swamgrace because this gear is no different even if you are in a different GC,
My old FC made me switch to Maelstrom thinking they were gonna do PvP,
by the time I made progress on it, I had left them, now when I want to wear my swangrace I need to be in Maelstrom,
when I want to be in Twin adder cause its my city state, my FC house is in lavender beds and I just generally like them and their gear better.
