They can't however you can put all your alts in the same FC and use the chest to move items between characters and if you purchase extra retainers you can employ said extra retainers on those characters giving you a maximum possible amount of retainers for a account on a server to be 64 giving you 12,950 item slots possible for one account holder per server if you also count inventory of all 8 characters and the FC chest itself.
