If they were important to progression then yes I would love to have Relic items in game.

Example based on what SE has said their plans are for expansions going forward on a 2 year life cycle.

Epic storyline starts with evil bad person that needs to die but his army is too vast and his personal strength is too much to handle at the start.
Work though storyline and party content for 1.5 years gaining not only upgrades to do the current content but also to gain materials to piece together Relic weapons for the final battle.

.5 years using Relic weapons to defeat final content.

Start fresh and do the same thing over the next expansion.

--Having Items in as an ego inflation system, hard work indicator is stupid.
--Having Items for storyline/content completion is necessary.

You already have your advantage, when new content gets launched, you've got your leveled character to go through it, where as people new to the game still have to level.

    Disagree completely.

--Rewarding players for hard work and time spent - Smart
--Having items you only use once for story purposes - stupid

lol @ ppl brining in the FFXI HNM window everytime a unique item or HNM is mentioned, right because FFXIV copies FFXI? lol yeah right...

Back to the post, Yes i would like unique item that drops from open world NM, instance or w/e but BUT!!!! make it fukin RARE and it requires skill to get it, require you put in more than 1hr of work, because lats thing i want is..

Get item in 1 hr > zone to Uldah > see's everyone in the town with the same item > throw the item in retainer.

Please make it so only those who have skill and dedicated time(w/w the amount) to obtain it.

I wish there was color differentiation on the name of loot. For instance if I just started this game and inspected someone, I would have no clue what quality of their gear was (i.e. crafted, rare, epic, legendary, relic, etc.). It would be nice if relics were orange or dungeon gear was blue something to indicate to the new player the quality of item he/she was looking at. Then they would know what to strive for in this game. Bottom line, I hate how all the gear has a white name. lol, guess i'm just picky.

p.s. thanks for all the answers on what those weapons were.

I'd have to disagree with this. The game's designed for casuals mainly, and I respect that. Your suggestion locks many players out of ever completing certain content, a bad decision for a casual game.

E-peen gear on the other hand is not content. Casuals should still have access to attempt and obtain such weapons, but doing so would likely consume all of their in game time.

These weapons are not necessities by any means, and they shouldn't push casuals away from the game as Rinsui is suggesting. If you truly refuse to play a game because it contains items you may never own yourself, then you're not casual, you just want everything handed to you.

I totally agree with you sir.

Under the system I detailed rewards would be given for hard work and time spent "1.5 years of questing/party play to obtain Relic items" is ruffly what I said.

And, I am sorry for this, I was too brief with my initial post. .5 years of Relic use or so would, ideally, allow players to use to Relic weapons for all types of content and battles not just for one boss. On top of that the Relics should be best in slot while ranking up over the next expansion.

Can someone give me an example of what is actually involved in getting a relic. Other than a really hard craft or really long quest chain I can't think of anything near as epic as you guys are making these relics.
