50% of the reason I stuck through the first 9 months of this game...

was that in hopes... Someday... I would be one of the small percentage of players who owned atleast 1 relic weapon, kraken club/ridill, who played with players who all had atleast 1 relic weapon and a kraken club/ridill.

This is just me, of course, but I can have fun anywhere. I can experience gameplay in any videogame. I can make friends anywhere. I don't need to be playing FFXIV. But spending several years of my free time and even some extra hours building my character and releationships with other players in the game would be a very difficult (but possible) experience to duplicate if the reward I got from it was say.... a relic weapon. I'm using this as an example. But an item to signify my hard work, or my wealth... or... MY E PNUS , would be just marvelous!

I haven't seen any massive threads about relic/kclub/ridill/[input other items less then 3% of the playerbase would have] (or maybe I'm just blind) but I was just wondering what people think of them. Do you want to see them again? Did you stick through the 9 months of obvi terribad game mechanics in hopes of getting a headstart on something like this over everyone who quit/took a break? Or do you hate them and think any item that takes enough time to get emotionally attached to it shouldn't be in a video game?

SE somewhat confirmed that multi-hit weapons will make an appearance in FFXIV, I'll see if i can find the post.

As for relics, it just wouldn't be Final Fantasy without Ultimate weapons. I think these are more or less guaranteed in the future. I just hope they keep them incredibly rare and hard to get.

Here's the link to the thread:

Rare drops are fine with me, camping Nidhogg at 3am on a weeknight against 10 other shells is not.

While we're on this topic, I'm curious how multi-hit weapons will be implemented in FFXIV.

They have to be worthwhile, but not incredibly OP. The problem I see though, compared to FFXI's multi-hit weapons which were weaker than normal options and just used for massive tp gain, is that FFXIV's tp gain is based on damage dealt as opposed to weapon delay.

If the damage stays low on FFXIV's multi-hit weapons, then the tp gain will likely be comparable, maybe a bit faster, than normal weapons. Not to mention weaker weapon skills. In this case, they hardly seem worth it.

On he other hand, if the base damage rating is equal to or even just slightly less compared to a normal weapon, they will be extremely OP.

Why turn this into an HNM thread? There's other ways of implementing items like these. Look at FFXI's relics, all of the items needed to make them were in instances.

The community and the devs are well aware that many don't want incredibly long pop times already. I however would like to see their return, but without mini windows.

Weapons that help break the job or weapons that make you weep at how unbelievably terrible they end up being lol

For the most part though, they're fun to have
