    Let's reminisce about FFXI!

I won't deny it, I'm one of the people who would like to see FFXIV take on alot of things FFXI offers. But oh well, instead of making another thread of saying what I want in FFXIV, let's talk about what we miss, fond memories from FFXVI, stories that make you smile.

I played on Levi server for over 6 years. It was my first MMO. To this day it's my favorite MMO. At least my favorite from the memories I have. The first time I learned SATA and did it right! The first time I used Jump on my Dragoon. The first time I tanked on my paladin and kept the mob on me in a situation that you'd normally lose it.

The excitement of doing the missions and actually getting sky.. though after a couple months I hated doing sky lol. Kicking Maat's ass on RDM after trying so many times. The first time one shotting a imp in Cadaver Mire (sp) with Mighty Strikes > Steel Cyclone.. ahhh, good times.

Doing limit breaks for the first time and the feeling of accomplishment. Helping your friends do the same thing and watching them get the same feeling.

The list goes on and on. I had twelve 75 jobs and numerous others 60+. Leveling BLM to 75 duoing all the way with a friend, and I played an elf O.O

Riding the ferry from White Gate to Nashmuu(sp) when the expansion first came out and getting owned by that stupid octopus NM -.-

Come on, share your stories. Let people know why you want the wonderful things from FFXI to grace the future wonderful game of FFXIV. Plus I wouldn't mind reading the great times people had on such a classic game

Hehe oh man do I remember getting my rear pwned by that NM Octo on the way to WG. Of course it was my first time riding the the ferry there so I wanted to explore the ship and there it was lol. >< Anyway I only played for 3yrs on and off on the Ragnarok Server. Was more of a socializer then a leveler so I only have SAM to 78 when the first part of Abyssea came out. All my other jobs ranged from 20-42 and never even touched RDM lol. Even so I've had a wonderful time there and so far that endevor has carried on in FFXIV as I am with a great ls on Melmond and getting a better balance of being social and friendly while being more goal-oriented too.

My biggest three memories of FFXI are quite simple tbh..

1- The first time I went into Konschtat Highlands and spent hours trying to find Valkurm Dunes without a map.

2- The first time I got to Jeuno and got instantly lost.. Spent hours trying to learn the zone only to discover it spreads into three OTHER zones.

3- The first time I fought the Shadow Lord.. And everything preceeding.. Running through Beaucadine Glacier, Xarcabard and Castle Zvahl Baileys.

Beautiful game and every memory I have is fond and missed, and sadly, not quite re-touched by it's successor.

Those are just my 3 biggest and fondest.

I have to say, I think a big reason of why I don't play FFXIV very much is lack of a LS. When I join a LS/guild in a game I want one of mature friends. People that can have a good time without acting like they're 12 years old. I had such a LS on FFXI, infact I was the leader. Not up for doing the leading role again but I also haven't found such a LS on FFXIV since I'm not a very social person. I'm social in a LS/guild environment because I get to know the people, warm up to them, stuff like that. But until then I'm a loner which makes it hard to find a LS =(

Oh, and be happy you didn't level RDM, that's what you would have been stuck as for every group-needed task in the game >.>

I remember the trips. The first time I travelled alone from Windurst and made it to Gustaberg bridge was magical. It's still one of my all time favourite gaming moments ever.

I waited for a long time until someone killed the bats in the Valkrum tunnel because they would still aggro and kill me. I had no maps to many of the locations so I just hugged the right wall and kept checking Zam to see that I'm exiting from the right part.

It was 3a.m, when I first hear the amazing track by Kumi Tanioka play on the desert of Gustaberg and I was mesmerized by the beauty of it. I stared at the waterfall and woke up my boyfriend to tell him that "I've finally made it to another city!" I remember that my excitement got him interested in the game as well and maybe that led him to buy XIV even though he never plays anything.

I'm currently on a vacation and I was planning on exploring the jungle by myself. I had made all the preparations on the previous week and I was determined to see what it leads into. And BAM XI is offline for the duration of my vacation =(

I don't have to tell you how extremely disappointed I felt warping into each city of XIV within hours of gameplay.

I still like memorizing the quest instructions or maps on ZAM and then doing the quest on my 360. It feels like a real journey with all my notes and thing I have to remember. This never happens in XIV as the quest almost doesn't want me to think anything during it and I'm just following the markers like a vegetable.

There are so many great moments from FFXI. My first job I took to 75 was DRK and what a journey that was. Spending countless hours camping the coffer chest in castle oztroja and the eldieme necropolis. Finally hitting level 59 so you could equip your haurbergeon was another exciting moment because there was no sushi back then. Camping the VE and getting my first drop. Doing KSNM 30 and getting a venomous claw and a d.ingot...when the claw was 5 million. Staying up all night doing dynamis or to finish a quest. FFXIV has none of this excitement, and the fact that you can equip any armor at any rank on any job takes away that element of excitement also.
