If it's to be believed, it will be the Esoteric Set that will be the AF2 gear which should be out next week.
Ahh...and what will be the source of the Esoteric set?
Last time AF armor was given via job quests if I am not mistaken...I would assume AF2 armor will be given at the same level of difficulty?
So:
i180 Asura via Law (once upgraded)
Job specific (AF2) i195 (potential upgrade for higher?) via Esoterics --<weekly tome cap>
ALEX(NM) Prototype Gordian (i190) loot upgraded to Gordian (i195 or i2xx?) from ALEX(SAVAGE) --<weekly lot cap>
A4(SAVAGE) i2xx weapon drop? --<weekly lot cap>
Sound about right?
Just imagine the Poetry cap of 450 tomes a week - as it was before3.02.55 - except the new version of tomes are used to buy AF2 instead of IW Magitec gear.
Since the gear is AF2, it's job-specific, meaning you can't share it with your other Tank jobs. So that - plus the weekly tome cap - will make it a stretch of time to fully gear best ilvl for all your jobs if you're not running (SAVAGE). The benefit of Gordian gear is it's shared between all jobs within its role. I'm assuming Upgraded Gordian and AF2 will be of equal ilvl. SAVAGE weapon will be 5 ilvls better than gear, but by 3.1 the new relic quest-line will begin and match it.
No don't worry, Eso will be rolled into daily Roulettes and lvl60 content. Same deal as 2.x. At any one time it was always 2 tomes, 1 with a weekly cap, 1 not:
Philosophy & Mythology, Mythology & Soldiery, Soldiery & Poetry, Poetry & Law
Soon it will be
Law & Esoterics

BTW do we know that wep drops are only going to be from Savage?
And the new tomes....are those only going to be from the new Alex wings?
woops fixed
Most likely not. Whenever they've released a new type of tomestone... Wait, this got too complicated for me to explain at this time of night (6am). I'll give example instead. It's pretty long, so I'll hide it :p
Graah, managed to lose my copied text before editing >.< Hold on, retyping.Finished typing.
In the beginning we had two tomestones, Philosophy and Mythology (I'm a bit unclear if they came at the same time, or one patch apart, since I wasn't 50 at the time). You could carry around 2000 of each at any time, but Mythology had a limit to how many you could get per week. Philosopy was used to buy the i70 Darklight armour, Mythology the i90 AF gear.
In 2.2, they introduced Soldiery tomestones. Philosophy was made obsolete -- you could still see it in the currency tab, but you couldn't buy anything with it, and you couldn't get any more of them. The only thing you could do was exchange them with an NPC in Mor Dhona into a smaller amount of Mythology tomes. The Darklight armour was made into dungeon drops from the new dungeons, Mythology lost its weekly cap and Soldiery was the new capped currency (used to buy i100 armour, upgradeable to i110). Some materials you'd used Philosophy to buy were moved to Grand Company vendors.
In 2.4, they introduced Poetics tomestones. Philosophy vanished entirely, and any such tomes you hadn't exchanged yet were lost. Mythology was made obsolete, i90 AF gear was made into dungeon drops via a token system from the new dungeons. Soldiery was uncapped and Poetics were the new capped tomes. Mythology-bought mats were moved to Grand Company vendors.
In 2.55, they adjusted the weekly cap for Poetics from 450 to 900, to make it easier for players to gear up and prepare.
In 3.0, they removed Mythology entirely, Soldiery was made obsolete and Poetics were uncapped. Tomestones of Law were introduced, but also as an uncapped currency.
So it's not quite as clearcut what will happen when they introduce the Esoteric tomestones. Will they remove Soldiery? Will we have three active currencies? I have no idea o.o
Also, if I managed to get something wrong, please tell me so I can correct it ^^; Like I said, it's past 6am, and I'm a tad fuzzy-brained.
I also see Xenosan got there before me ^^; But... like I said (in the hidden bit), we currently have two tomestone currencies without a weekly cap...
