Instead of buying a game and expecting to play it they're attempting to revolutionize the way we play games by buying them and not playing them.
Very avant-garde.

UPDATE: I FINALLY have access to Heavensward!!!
Decided I would try to get a refund, set up chat with Amazon support. They directed me to their games support department. The guy I got in with was understanding, read me off the normal 'you can't access the content till you're 50' normal stuff, but this guy actually gave me another code and told me to put it into the Sony PSN site- and it gave me the license. It will be labeled "Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward Playing Entitlement"- he didn't expect it to work, and neither did I, but the difference when I put in the original code and the new one is there was 2 items on the new one(though both said FFXIV: Heavensward, nothing else), and 1 on the first- so I would try badgering support there, more in line with asking for a refund like I did.
Maybe I just got lucky, as I didn't have as much of a runaround as some of you guys did it seems.
Good luck, fellow Eorzeans! Hope to see you on the battlefield soon![]()
Oh really!? I should try that then.
Well you got lucky thats for sure, I spent an hour on the phone with amazon last week, trying, and i couldnt get anywhere on that front, but definantly sound slike some of the codes being vendored through Amazon on incomplete.UPDATE: I FINALLY have access to Heavensward!!!

Nice to find posts on the forum about this.
Just started playing a couple weeks before the expansion, PS4 of course. Have the physical ARR disc, was getting close to 50 so, got gifted the Heavensward code from Amazon.
Hit 50, planning on finishing the story quests while getting xp towards 51, and nope. xp locked.
Called Amazon, they knew of this being an issue, but said there's nothing they could really do apart from giving a new code with proof from Sony.
Called Sony, Reinstalled, deactivated/reactivated, refreshed licenses, everything that they normally make you do for every little error. Said they couldn't do anything, check with SQE.
Called SQE, they were apologetic and said they were working on it, but there's nothing I could do until it's fixed.
It's been a week since I hit 50 and it's been 3 weeks since Heavensward was released... :\ It really sucks being left behind while all your friends are hitting 60 and you thought that an expansion would be a good chance to catch up and welp... nope.
called amazon and they gave a refund, though i still got the game listed as and add-on for ARR.
Yeap. I sended an email to amazon explaining everything and received the refund. Bought the game from the PSN and now it's working.![]()
Do what this guy did. Some of the digital Codes that Square has vendored are bad! Just get whoever sold you the digital code you got to give you a new one, and try it out. apparently, Heavensward is suppose to redeem for 2 items, the expansion, and the licensing for it. So, Go do this pplz! It works!UPDATE: I FINALLY have access to Heavensward!!!
