If you want to understand the value of vitality I urge you to attempt T1 to T5 without echo in ilvl 70 gear (or T9 in ilvl 90~100 gear without echo).

Ok but it's about 3k HP difference in STR accessories vs. HP accessories.

Because 30 vit in ilvl 70 is around a 10% increase in HP, which is quite a significant increase, @50 in ilvl 130 as tank, 30 vit is closer to a 5% increase in HP. So at ilvl 70 it's more useful than wearing ilvl 130. Now we are at 15-20k HP, so the percentile increase is even less for those vit points. Even with the extra points to spend from 51-60.

In other words, as HP gets higher the returns from vit gets lower and STR gets higher in comparison.

Depends on how much the relevant content will deal in one go (content is balanced around tanks EHP), in T5 you didn't have a single point to spare at ilvl 90 if you wanted to survive to every contingencies (eg bad RNG stroke with AOE and stuns). Also it is known that T10~T13 has been more lenient on tanks.

A4 buster only hurts if the fight goes on longer; it works like Akh Morn in that you get one extra beam per usage, if I'm not totally mistaken. It seemed to hit about 3500-4500 per beam on our tank.

It's always best to have some buffer. Not saying you can't use STR accessories, but you gotta account for a buffer.

Its only wasted if nobody else is taking damage or the healers are solely healing.

But...I gotta say if a tank can only do 250 dps even with full vit gear...that is kinda sad. When tank dps has effectively well over doubled since ARR. But yeah as tanks our job is to remain alive for the group first, and dps second.
