It only looks like that because you actually refresh GL when you press the button, but the floating text comes only after the whole animation is finished.
Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.
Which honestly should be the case for most attacks that grant you a buff (esp proc ones such as firestarter, straighter shot, BotD combos) It'd make so many things less frustrating, not just monk at this point.

Is this similar to how if you finish an ironjaws cast in the split second after both windbite and venomous bite fall off, it refreshes them to the full 18 second duration? I ask because this is not the same as hitting snap/demo as GL is about to expire. the buffs are literally gone, and the cast is still about to complete, then it completes and the dots are refreshed to to full duration. I think the server just has the same lag-delay as it would if you "escape" a telegraph that you get hit by anyway. Does it have something to do with the last dot tick actually being at the moment or just after the debuff expires? I just assume that buffs and debuffs work this way because it's similar to the way FFXIV doesn't check your position as often as other MMOs.
That's how it works. Most skills are snap shotted at the time of cast (or end of castbar). If you were standing in AoE as it fades (or the cast is finished), you'll get hit by it even if you move out of it after it fades. Same with skill interaction, it snap shots the circumstances at the time of cast.
Buff skills are typically applied after the attack hits (which is usually at the end of the animation, and this is incredibly and frustratingly noticeable with firestarter and straighter shot) To my knowledge, monk is the only exception to this in regards to (reapplying) greased lightning that they will always gain a stack or fresh it intime regardless of how long the actual skill animation is. As a bard main and having BLM at 50, making this change would go a long way for both of these classes, and I'd imagine it'd so for DRG as well.

I've lost AF stacks and gotten all 3 back from a closely-timed fire1 before. AF/UI seem to work the same as GL in that sense. That's how it works. I've also finished casting b4, lost enochian, then gained enochian from b4 hitting. It'll only interrupt if you actually lose enochian during the cast itself. And while it sucks when that happens, it's generally something that could've been avoided.
I know people don't like "getgud" but losing enochian is generally avoidable with some foresight and knowledge of the boss' mechanics. If it's a boss mechanic designed to make people lose their stacks, then yeah we'll lose our stacks. We're not necessarily supposed to have 100% uptime on every single fight.
When in doubt, assume sarcasm
