There's only two sidequests for Aether points that are easy to miss if you're not simply doing all the sidequests, and they're both in Dravania Forelands. One is at the bug-men camp, and the other is the leader of the Tailfeather camp. Both require you to complete a prerequisite sidequest before you can accept the aether quest.

As for having to run around, that's a good thing. Forces you to learn the zone and deal with the hazzards before you can simply fly over everything.

Plus when your able to fly and the travel is SOOO much faster, you appreciate it a lot more.

Finding the Aether currents is trivial, as most have pointed out, the main "problem" is the quest Aether currents, some quests for those are locked behind many quests.
You have to do most of the area quests to stumble across the Aether point quests, unless you search some guide to point you to the exact quest "chain" that leads you to some more "hidden" Aether point quests.

That being said, I like the current system, I'm just sorry there isn't actual significant content locked behind flying, so that once you get flying you can feel rewarded in the sense you can now do stuff you couldn't do before.
In the first 2 areas I found a total of... 1 quest (level 54 at this time) that required flying to solve. And I don't really find "vistas" to be relevant in the sense I can already get any vista I want from the back of my griffin, no limits already.

I enjoyed the aether hunt. One thing I like about this game is they can do things like this I find fun the first time that would be tedious a second but don't have to since alts aren't a thing.

    No.

In fact the dev team has even said that it's not that hard to get really. You do some quests to get a few points. 1 point is always tied into the MSQ. But since some people are not doing the quests associated with unlocking the quest that has the aether current, they're looking at making this even easier for folks, which to me is ridiculous.

Flying is an earned right, and it's not even that difficult. With the excetion of Sea of Clouds you can get the Aether current's immediately and then just need to do side quests for the other 4 and MSQ for the last 1. It's not difficult.

I thought Aether Currents were a fun little game. They don't take that long and the reward is well worth it. If you really want to be lazy and strip the fun out of exploring, then you can just google a map for then and do it in no time at all.

I think flight is fine as it is.

it takes like 30 minutes to do the currents you don't get through the main story..... I mean seriously some people will complain about anything.

There is very little fun to be had running around a zone trying to find green swirling vortexes, or having to pour over a quest log to figure out which quests aid in attunement.
im sorry but a lot of time and money went into making each level and It should be enjoyed accordingly
