They shouldn't of catered this game to casual or hardcore when they knew its not the gameplay mechanics that make people play your game its your marketing, japan has crap marketing to the US, they will never sell games without serious marketing here. One xi commerical in the US that only played on the east coast (ok so that 82% of the US but a greedy US gaming company still wants the other 18% on the west coast lol) isn't good enough. MARKETING MARKETING MARKETING seriously SE learn a lesson. That leona lewis XIII commercial was awful def better for European markets, get us right too at the same time.
Word of mouth isn't a good strategy for U.S. marketing, when more than half the gamers are very ignorant and talk crap about games they haven't played in entirety, therefore if you rely on word of mouth you have many people just not trying your game for themselves.
Example A Word of mouth:
-gamer A: did you play FFXIV?
-gamer B: oh yeah that game blows
-gamer A: oh cool, now i don't really need to try it, maybe only with a buddy pass that i'll scam off someone on the internet lol
-gamer B: yeah you dodged a bullet
(you can replace this with internet reviews too, those are also just word of mouth, free marketing cheap skates that SE relies on who all hate this game. and would probably even if it were up to par)
example B marketing:
-gamer: *watches commercial for FFXIV and is totally blown away/inspired*, he thinks "i should try this game out."
Anything they do is futile, they still just really have us. PS3 players aren't retarded, demon souls was a great game, and it sold well, and it was PS3 exclusive. People think ps3 players are brain dead console players but most of us are the remnants of an older time where PS and PS2 were boss, and Japanese people made awesome challenging rpgs.

What is the point of implementing extremely difficult battles and content that will be based on a system that is undergoing major changes? Every patch they'd have to worry about keeping these things difficult and balanced. Much easy to do the battle system first and lay out some basic conent for all players to enjoy.
You've obviously established a theory before collecting facts, hence why you don't mention any of the times Yoshida has talked about implementing skillful play. I'm not going to dig these up for you, because you're obviously going to blow them off. I'm just going to say, everyone knew these major changes was coming since the player poll, so let them fix the battle system and "hold your horses."
It's funny how on these boards all I see is whining about skillful play SP parties but then I get in the game and that is just not the case. You all would rather rush mobs with 6 people that 2 of those 6 could duo. It's faster SP than solo/duo yea, but if you want skill so bad why not persue sp cap mobs with a little organization to the party?Grind parties need to be the norm way of sp'ing, and need to take more strategy and have more danger
In any case, I think the new enemies calling for help will fix the low level mob parties from being so disorganized anyways. But then you will just log onto loadstone and say "thanks for ruining sp pts SE"

Something to think about for all those who think Darkhold isn't challenging enough.
Practice makes perfect.
You can do Darkhold dozens of time a day and more if you want with the only restriction of needing 8 people. With all that practice it makes it seem easier than it actually is.
If you were playing another MMO that had a dungeon on the same difficulty of Darkhold, but you were only able to do it once a week, there would be very little to no complaints that it was too easy.
I bet Late Reg's gil that if SE only allowed access to Darkhold once a week this forum would be filled with complaints about it being way too hardcore.
Agree in a way, I hate how nothing really needs a real tank. It's like, just SPAM and let anyone tank, heck even the healer if he wants JUST KILL KILL KILL!!!! They need to make things more organized and increase the death penelty. This game needs to revive the goblin angler camp! Mobs that cream the hell out of everyone, even the tank! and pose a threat to bad play styles.
we have all theses stats and no get used other than HP
we have slashing, percing, blunt attacks.
we have elemental stats water, fire etc.
we have weather that can affect the status of elements
but the dont use any of it to out disadvantage or advantage. tank & spank FTL!!
mobs are pertty dumb, goblins dont even aggro wtf
party is just a bum rush of WS spam.

Having "bosses" take 28+ hrs to spawn = stupid. It does not equal "challenging."
It would mean that we'd be back to square one with the dumb as a rock method of HNM camping a la FFXI. That is bad. We want to move away from that.

I didnt anyone would need to say this but everything in the game as of now is tier 1, lowbee, beginner stuff that SE is just useing test the waters. If no one could complete or if it took months complete the things they added SE counldn't get the feedback they need to know if an idea worked. im sure things will be harder in the future but right now they need to know what to make harder.
