In addition to some of the better proposed solutions... I'm waiting for them to make mob aggro work more like it does in FFXI and less like it does in WoW where if you get in the mobs radius it will aggro. However, I am glad that they stuck to the part that if a mob is TW it doesn't aggro you. (At least I hope I did. I didn't run into too many mobs that aggro at my level...)Moving on to the FFXI mob aggro types!

    Sight
    Sound
    Magic
    Low HP
or all of the above, or combination of the above. For example. Undead in FFXI aggro Low HP and Sound.

Certain mobs can be avoided if you do not get within their field of vision aka sight aggro mobs.

Also, some mobs will aggro but not link. Again, Undead reference. Skeletons aggro but not link.

But I think you get the idea.

They also need to stop pairing up mobs when they spawn. Every time I do a leave quest it's always me x 2 mobs or x3 mobs. It gets bad. As a PGL I'm squishy and I don't have a great means of keeping up HP without tapping into my rather piddly MP.

In any case. They really should implement that aspect of FFXI's mob behavior.

FFXIV mobs still have/used to have different aggro, for example:
    Kobold still aggro by Sight.
Eft used to aggro by Sound.
Red Clipper had two stages aggro: clipping their claws when they sight you, and attack when you are close.

But people complained too much, so now they are simplifying the aggro.

either. 1. SE is wasting time and incompetent
or 2. SE realizes there is a problem with mob placement and will be int he future, and has created a way to get around it.
Yeah I have done every guildleve in the game multiple times both before and after 1.18(x). A great deal of them have been moved, Many DoL guildleves have been moved, and many NM's (both the high level NM's, and for some reason even the lower level NM's) have been moved.

People complain about the location of an aggressive mob in the way of a guildleve or quest> Square Enix moves it in the next patch.

They are implementing a stealth for DoL because it is literally impossible unless they gave them a separate map to ensure that DoL never get aggro ever.

I can have it both ways because I live in reality, can read patch notes, and am not a complete loon.

Dealing with some degree of aggro mobs outside the leve is reasonable. However, some areas, such as the one the OP cited, and particularly Nanawa Mines need adjustment. More often than not, on certain leves in NM, you'll end up fighting more non leve mobs than leve, which is ridiculous, especially in view of the time bonus. I agree this is mostly a solo issue, but I believe SE stated that leves are now intended for the more casual/solo players, so there's work to be done on some of these.

Once upon a time people went here and reported guildleves that had aggro mobs, and then in a magical patch Square Enix moved the guildleve locations or the mobs in question. Maybe someday something like that could feasibly happen again.... probably not though.

Let's be honest, General Discussion is pretty much where **** gets done nowadays.

Anyway, just ran into this issue a few minutes ago. First was the eft on the way into the clearing. No biggie, he died fast. Then there was the eft sitting on top of my defense node. But, hey, I figure I can kill and eft and a pteroc at the same time, so I pulled him while running in. . .

Then, suddenly, there was a third eft! @_@

Yeah, 2 efts plus two pterocs is more than my ARC could handle.
