Yeah pretty much how it was in ARR when the 2 orignal Tomes come out, your AF gear was just 50 and the max at the time was 90 so that was like a 40 iLV gap jump and this starting gear from dungeons is 160 and I'd imagine savage is 200 so same 40.

Pretty much this. You had AF gear at 50, dungeon gear at...I think it was 60, I honestly forget now what the intial endgame dungeon gear was. Anyways Darklight was 70, CT had 80, and BCoB/Myth was 90 (Atleast I think Myth was 90, I jumped from 2.1 to 2.45 due to things so I don't completely remember between Darklight and Soldiery.) Either way basically the ilvl jump is very similar to what it was like in 2.0

basicly this. A lot of people aren't even i170 (me included), and now they're already releasing the next set? I'm not expecting it to be above i190, but still...

Said gear will have a cap to how fast you can get it, both the bought gear and the Alexander gear. People won't be getting it nearly as fast as Law gear.

Oh a shocker. A weekly cap. Where have I seen this before? Oh yeah.... everytime new tomes and gear releases. Even with a weekly cap, they're releasing new item levels too fast, and you'll get people screaming higher requirements with each PF. Yesterday I already saw someone screaming for i170 for the second coil, THE SECOND COIL. Even with i142 normal gear you'll have more than enough....

If you mean Alexander floor 2, the min ilvl is 170 as set be SE. So not really the players there. Now if you mean Second Coil of Bahamut...that just seems like a wierd person then? Haven't seen something like that on Gilgamesh. That said, again, this is something they already have done when the game first came out. The ONLY content that will need higher then 170 will be Alexander Savage, of which you could have a group in BiS and still not beat it if they aren't up to par skill wise. Some people put too much faith in their gear. Like people who put up much higher ilvl caps in PF then is needed for example.

Oh right, thats possible didn't even think of that.

You still don't see that in the 3 weeks the game is out, they've released 3 types of armor to collect. One being the i170 you need to upgrade. Minimum requirements will be higher, cause people want to finish their runs faster. Compared to 2.x I'm not going to bother keeping up the ilvl up to the standards, so I'll be able to enjoy myself.

I'm going to take my sweet time in getting geared, and if people don't want me in their party, it's not my problem. Neither it's theirs, because SE just keeps releasing new stuff right after eachother, making people want the higher geared players, instead of the slightly lower geared ones.

In 2.x they would also ask for i105+ people for i80-90 content. Heck, if there was a PF up for the final CT, they would all throw it on i115, thinking they would clear it much faster, even though it's a freaking 24-man raid. In all honesty. I wouldn't mind keeping the ilvl up if there were just more things to do than spam one thing over and over being 4-man or 8-man dungeons. If they would just release more 24-man raids I could consider it fun, cause then you can mess around with a group of people. Small groups tend to be uptight, and can't even enjoy a joke or two after even one wipe IN NEW CONTENT.

Gear up on your own pace, its all good, and its not like every person making a group is going to be putting it at a higher ilvl then is reasonably needed. More so I would assume if you make your own PF groups you wouldn't be! Also for CT...I think there was only one time I saw a group do that, and it was before WoD came out. Don't remember if the ilvl was put high or not.

Anyways, nothing wrong with gearing at your own pace. Do it slow, do it fast, all good in many players book really. As was said by Mushashidon the Estoric/Alex Savage gear will be the best gear for atleast 6 months, with the only new comparable gear being the new 24-man that won't be quite as good, but easier to collect.

Also (again via DF), I've been in many groups that could have quite a good time, making jokes and all that. Yes some people will be very uptight, even in the newest content...but then, there will always be jerks, just as there will always be nice people. Just gotta roll with it.

Just to reiterate what Musashidon said, because the expansion's initial endgame gear was staggered out its actually much easier on play styles like yours (and mine) than 2.0. Instead of having Ilvl190 gear on day one, SE has given us weeks to enjoy the leveling experience and that also means that those that rushed to end game won't have as large of a gear gap between those of us that took our time.
