They need to find a more elegant solution to server load than forbidding character creation. Heavensward has attracted new players and I keep seeing this story of them not being able to play with friends because of the lock out.

We understand but there isn't a ton we can do about it.

The best ways to get around a character creation lockout are:
1: Wait until the early morning (4-7am) and make a character then. Most of the time, character creation is allowed during these times even on large servers. It varies by server, but this is usually a safe bet.
2: Make a character somewhere else and pay $10 for a character transfer. This completely bypasses the creation lockout at any time of day, but it requires paying more which, given the emphasis you put on your friend spending money on the game already (so did we, btw), he may not be super eager to do this.
