Sigh, why can't girls wear taffeta without being judged...
Girls also like dressing their characters with skimpy outfit too, because, why not?

The takeaway one should get from this is that, while most people find something to appreciate about mostly-naked ladies (and/or men), restraint and good taste are high virtues.
Oh I'm not saying it isn't a major industry concern, I'm just surprised to see it appear for this title since the game has a limited number of revealing armors compared to something like the original World of Warcraft, where the emerald breastplate might as well have been called the plate bikini...In a hobby industry where it's still super common for female characters to be overly sexualized, yeah, it's a legit worry. Notice how when FF Mobius for mobile was released, the male lead was incredibly sexualized and showing off his bod. The advertisements had him looking pretty steamy with his positions too. Then every gamer that for some reason fears men being presented that way for whatever reason cried out "FOUL!". His Western release got a huge face lift and he's now wearing more clothes. Yet if women cry out like that like they have been, they just get told "she's a strong, powerful woman! stop holding her back!"
Geez, relax. The person was just correcting some misinformation about proper terms.
Very well said. I think phrases like ”too revealing”, ”overly sexy” or ”slutty” refer to a sort of (trying to use neutral words here) prudish/modest attitude that I'm not used to being around. To me, being comfortable with both seeing and showing the human body is is normal and I can't get my head around why it is a bad thing to show large areas of beautiful skin. We don't cover hair, eyes or the mouth either and in the right context they can be sexual too, so I guess I don't see the big deal with a belly button, back, thighs or arms showing either. It's just skin, a vital organ.i hope for the day when people don't get labeled for having their females characters wear revealing clothing. A day where you can just enjoy the style without being criticized for sexualizing your avatar. (which isn't it at all) The obsession with sexualization of everything in the west is toxic and every time i see a post like this i get disappointed. I enjoy a lot of the more revealing clothing since it has a little elegance and simplicity to it. where you see skin and sex i see beauty and nature. I think there should be a large variety of options, not limited because some people might be offended or feel the need to have some sort of false moral high ground.
I had an odd encounter in another game a while back. My character was dressed in glorious golden battle plate wear that showed off her pale as moonlight skin, and a golden crown to complement the long flowing hair and to bring attention to her stern warrior's gaze. (Sorry got carried away, she was fabulous lol.) Anyway, this one player gets really cheeky and starts saying things like "how come you don't have hypothermia yet" and "that wedgie must be uncomfortable"... Like, why can't you just mind your own business... You don't see me asking how bad it smells under that armor after a day of battle and how long it takes to do your... uh... personal business, when you have to take off all that armor and put it back on. Just keep those thoughts to yourself as is polite to do. <____<
More on the original topic though. Fighter NPCs are indeed quite practically dressed and the game also shows some skin on non-fighter NPCs, so it's a nice middle ground. My favourite NPC outfits are Rowena 2.0, 2.4 and 3.0, V'kebbe, Serendipity (especially the hair), Minfilia, Ser Aymeric, Cid, Ysayle (again dat hair) and Admiral Merlwyb.
Edit. How could I forget Y'shtola! Her most recent gear looks awesome.

Psst, hey.
This is what everyone is thinking any time someone runs by in a battle bikini. Especially in Heavensward zones.
Just so you know.
1. You aren't smelling so pretty yourself after adventuring.
2. A shower washes off the gross. It doesn't wash off the horrific gaping wounds someone dressed that way is likely to sustain in comparison to someone who has placed solid armor entirely between them and horrible monsters that want to kill them.
I mean, if we're gonna nitpick, let's nitpick here.
Actually, it's not unnecessary. The OP states he is a male and realizes that, in order to cater to many heterosexual male gamers, gaming companies often times make girls look trampy. The person who posed about being a lesbian, while agreeing with the OP, is noting that she is approaching it from a vastly different viewpoint than he may be. People supporting arguments from different viewpoints/perspectives lends to the strengthening of an argument. If this was solely a post of a bunch of heterosexual men being like "Yeah man!" it would carry far less weight then support from a varying and diverse fan pool.
Somehow this got on a topic about PC's glamours. My main focus was on NPC's. As I said in my opening post, I like how they don't feel like they have to sexualize every female NPC for the sake of sexualization. I'm not saying 100% of the female NPC's wear modest clothing, because they don't. But when it makes sense for them to do so, they cover up. Even Minfilia with her midriff revealing attire covers up whenever she travels in Coerthis.
Y'Shtola is another example. Aside from a brief nude scene, which I argue was handled tastefully, she is just another attractive character with a well-written personality. SE makes the characters interesting, and not take shortcuts by putting them in skimpy outfits.
And on the subject of PC glamours, I admit to glamouring a few slutty outfits from time to time, and also glamouring a few classy outfits. My favorite is tanking in my Spring Dress glamour. Now THAT's tanking with style!
I just want a scouter and saiyan armor..."Ilvl over 200....Impossible!!!!!"
Do not thank SE for "not oversexualizing" female characters. The fact is, they are just so lazy to create separate skins of armor, so male and female have all the same skins all the way long...
You can create female skins for each armor without showing anything on females... but it requires twice more work for SE.
Have elegant and classy look
