Summoner vs. Bard DPS

My friend and I often run dungeons together. I play as Bard and they play as Summoner. I find that our dps tends to be low at times and that I'm usually second highest on the aggro list even when I have Foe's playing (which is whenever I can). I am trying to get to the bottom of our lower dps. I don't believe I'm the greatest Bard out there, but I'd like to think I'm fairly competent. Even so, the error may be on my end, that's what I'm trying to figure out...

But here's my main question:

Theoretically, if a lvl 60 Bard and Summoner are in a party and are playing at the same skill level, who should be top dps between the two?

SMN will out aoe dps every BRD out there. But on single target, BRD still get highet number I think, especially with WM on *cough*. But you could probably wrong, you didn't count the egi's dps too, because they are separated.

Lol no, Smn will out dps Bard in every instance of every fight. The only fight I think Bard should DPS a SMN on is T4 because the monsters die so fast and Smns don't have any of their new AoE capable skills in there.

Yeah.. no. On a single target SMN will be atleast 50 if not 100 DPS ahead if both are playing their job correctly.

The summoners agro ( and damage ) is divided between him and his pet. It isn't unusual for a bard to out dps/outagro a summoner, just not outdps a smn+his pet xD You need to download something that can....give you a fairly good idea of how your damage is doing ( oops I said too much x-x ) coughparser

Did you know that your songs and your buffs all contribute agro too? Also casters steal a skill from bard ( Quelling Strikes ) which reduces enmity also. Agro list is not a good indication of much really.

And to answer your question a smn should be destroying bard dps.

I agree 100% it's good to finally have our time in the spotlight for at least a part of the content

Bards and mch are the lowest dps jobs
They are not focused on raw damage.

They are sopport dps. People don't bring bards to raids for damage, they bring them for songs.
