Why did they decide to make it alternate targets with weapon skill use? I don't understand.

Rook has one of the best AI's I have seen and you do not like it . . .?
You're misreading it a bit. I did the same when I first looked at it. It doesn't keep swapping between targets-- when you use a weapon skill on a new target, it switches to the one you're attacking and stays there until you use a weapon skill on a different target.
It swaps to your target when using wep skills. How is this a problem?
It's not a problem. I know exactly how it works. The way the tooltip is worded, though, it says it "swaps targets when you use a weapon skill", not "it swaps to your target". Some people might think it keeps swapping to different, random targets whenever you use a weapon skill, which I think is what the OP is thinking it does.
This. This tooltip and the Ninja enmity tooltip for reducing another party member's enmity are worded very poorly. It's not a problem. I know exactly how it works. I actually misquoted that. Apologies:P It was meant for the OP. I think you are right about the misinterpretation. I love ma little rookie. It's not a problem. I know exactly how it works. Ahhh, now I get it. Yeah, I don't have it yet, I'll be getting it soon. I was just reading up on skills before work and was confused on what would possess them to make it just attack random peeps. But it sounds a lot better if it attacks YOUR target lol.
I thought the description was clear... when you use a weaponskill on another enemy, the turret switches to that enemy...

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.

"Using a weaponskill will cause turret to change targets."
That's the official tooltip description and it's actually poorly worded. If it said it changes to YOUR target, it would be fine. As it is, someone who just got the ability could easily misinterpret it to say it switches to a different target every time a weapon skill is used.
