I agree 100% with the OP and at least some of the responses.
However .....
i would KILL for some sleeveless tops ... There's just too few of them :|
I wanna show off my Au Ra's scales without needing her to be 90% naked >_<
Drives me crazy (kinda:P) on so many asian MMOs, not so much the skimpy outfits, but that they always put females in high heels! The designers should be forced to run a marathon in 6 inch heels everytime XDI'm glad we get a choice. I can dress my character depending on my mood and go as skimpy as I want, or head to toe in heavy armor or like a stodgy librarian, regardless of gender. It's nice to have that when other games don't respect personal style preferences to the point it can be uncomfortable rolling a female character.
What? This thread again? How many threads revolving around this matter does this make now? I could have swore this topic has been beaten to death and beyond. o.o
In terms of the OP though, the developers behind this game have been rather practical towards most of the female NPCs in this game. A nice change of pace I suppose.
EDIT: In terms of where I stand on this, I honestly don't care if you look skimpy or not. It's a videogame. Look the way you want. My own character tends to vary in how skimpy she is depending on the role I put her in.![]()

I don't mind any types of glamour. Rather it Gladiator gear and its super revealing armor type, or something like the Grandma robes that make up 93.8% of all mage armor. Personally, I enjoy finding the right blend of sexy and functional for my Glamour that doesn't involve Bath Robes. I play SMN >_> I like armor like Fistfighters though TBH, its a real nice set. for my SMN i use Oasis Tunic + Hildebrand Legs and whatever feet I think are best. My SCH is in that new healer robe from Expert cause I like how it looks :Q. my NIN will probably be glamoured in the expert gear when it hits 60 too.
Either way when it comes to revealing glamours, just keep in mind they aren't real people, they're pixels on your screen. So if some teenager has his mithra wearing gladiator armor.. get over it.. you're not the puritanical assault force. learn to live with people having different ideas of beauty~
I should have clarified what I meant, sorry. Basically, as a lesbian, I also appreciate boobs, but too many games do over sexualize female characters. So I agreed with OP that it's great that FFXIV has female NPCs that aren't given that treatment. I also agree with his examples of Hilda and Lucia, as they happen to be two of my favorites.
Does that seem less random and/or unnecessary now?
Male/Female who cares?
SE thanks for being tastefull with your character design for the most part.
I've never liked her charcater so maybe I'm just projecting my dislike of her.
You know what's great?I should have clarified what I meant, sorry. Basically, as a lesbian, I also appreciate boobs, but too many games do over sexualize female characters. You're the only person who didn't overreact to that post. You're also the only person that post was even directed at. If only you replied to it, as was intended, no one would have gotten offended over it at all and this topic would be three pages shorter.
Thank you for being rational.
To be fair most people don't like Minfilia. But it's less about the boobs and more about her being freaking useless.
Lalafells skirt the line very closely imho, Elin are the whole "1000 year old children" trope though >_> Like.. You can say they aren't children because of their behavior to a degree, but you'd be a fool to say they aren't made to look like children for people who want to look like children and act like children, which has some bad connotations associated with it with regards to some activities.
I mean, I'm fine with people wearing skimpy sets.. But please don't make it so girls (Or well characters in general) have to deal with "Skimpy armor" that's suppose to be worn by people fighting stuff with sharp blades and all. Honestly I wouldn't mind if SE made more "Battle mage" sets like the soldiery set for healers too.
a lot of people seem to forget that(in case of Japanese Games) People in Japan look very Young even if they are actually older, and therefor the Character Models tend to look young in their Games, and yes their sense or concept of cute and stuff like that is absolutely different then here in the EU or US or where ever.
and this oversexualizing of Children's is a trend nowadays even in Movies, TV Series's or just normal TV,
there are beauty contest's for young children and stuff like that where these Children tend to look like...., if there is something wrong than it is stuff like that.
so before someone says something about this type of stuff in Games, they should look a bit more on "Real World" problems when it comes to this stuff, because like i said in most Games they just look young while in fact are not.
again sorry for my english.
