The EU datacenter is Chaos :P

But yes, it will be moved. And we'll have a couple of days of downtime when that happens, to copy everything to the new (physical) servers.

I don't think they need few days to transfer while shutting EU data center off? copy it to new data center then close the one in Canada when ready to play in new DC? w/e

They need to bring them down to copy the data, because if they simply copy it and let us keep playing it would be outdated. Also, they'll need some time to test that everything went right (servers, data, etc.).

Of course, I'm sure that they might use incremental backups to save some time in the transfer of the data from Canada to Europe, but consider that they need a full day when they "simply" introduce a big patch, so keep that in mind when you think about how long it will take them to do this with all the data that they have to move, copy and verify. At least a day or two.

The copying and checking need time. Sure, they can let the servers in Canada still run until the datas in the EU datacenter are ready to go online, but everything the players earned during the transfer phase will be gone.
