What is going to happen to current +1/2/3 items come 1.20?

I think this question is on just about everyone's minds. Yoshi stated that these items will remain through 1.19 as they are. But what about when 1.20 arrives and we get the new HQ and NQ system.

Are +2 and +3 items going to be scaled down to the current +1 stats and all become HQ? Are NQ and +1 going to become NQ and +2 and +3 going to become HQ? Could we please get a dev response confirmation on this so all of us players know what to do with our current items? It's quite stressful to have no idea what is going to happen.

They are checking the number of +2s in circulation and will decide which way those go based on that.

I'd personally rather just see all the old +1/+2/+3 remain in the game as is. The new HQ gear could be equivalent stat-wise to +3 gear, just renamed HQ instead of +3 (simpler because there isn't and +1 or +2 gear being created any longer to give meaning to the appellation "+3").

Just like when the combat drops were changed to only NQ and +3, there wasn't any retroactive editting of existing items already in players' inventories.

If the old gear remains in the game, then no one gains anything undeservedly, and no one loses anything undeservedly. Over time the plussed gear will trickle its way out of the system, either via conversion to materia, or loss by attempting to socket 2 or more materia. There might be a few pieces that hang around as "collector's items", that old fogeys can haul out to show the "kids".

Yea I'm 100% sure I read it and it was commented on too. I just can't seem to find it since there's about 324696595965 threads discussing crafting changes >_>.
